What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

I must admit, that ZS doesn't sound like it's got much going for it. They're sneaking well under a grand for an ok one now, so I really can't see the point in saving one that's got so many issues.

Also with any second hand K series lump, before fitting, you must do the head gasket to be on the safe side.

Cobblers. Only do it if it needs done. I'm on my tenth K engined car and I've never dropped an HG.

...then say £250 for the engine, say another £150 at least for the box

£100 for the engine £50 for an R65 box.

Run away, seriously. If it's been badly repaired in the past, let it co over the bridge. For quite possibly a little bit more, you could find one with HGF and no accident damage. Jigging will be a few hundred quid at least to do it properly, so not worth it. You cannot bodge things like chassis legs as it could severely effect how the car handles.

Lol, you'd likely be horrified at some of the fixes by the OMG drift peeps then....

I LOL'd at this guy today, but then after a while i decided it wasnt that funny after all, more depressing really.

Not only has he got his massive BNP logo in the back of there but one for a campaign to bring back hanging!!! The mind boggles.

Seems pointless having indicators when he could just open the window and do a sieg heil.

Depressing indeed. Wouldn't want to be his next door neighbour.

Thanks for the advice everyone, have offered the guy scrap value for it but he's yet to get back to me. Only good things going for it are that its completely standard and the shell has only done 23k. Will have to wait and see what happens I guess!

I would like proof of where you can find engines & gearboxes that are in a usable condition for that money from a legitimate source. Even on ebay they are asking around £200-£250 for one, with often a delivery charge of at least 60 quid, and that is very cheap nowadays. £100 'might' get you a dog rough lump minus ancillaries, which as this car is engineless, the owner would then need to buy.

And pray tell what is wrong with using common sense & giving the engine a minor overhaul before slotting it in? You can't prove the history of 2nd hand lumps, so if I was in that situation, the HG and cambelt/water pump, plus thermostat would all be changed (less than £150 in parts), just for peace of mind. Plus it is a hell of a lot quicker & easier to do jobs like that when the engine is out of the car. Low miler K series seem to be the weakest, especially ones owned by gibblers, because the engines barely get warm, and the head/block expand & contract at different rates, putting strain on the head gasket.

Also I know someone who is a former MGR mechanic, and whenever he buys anything K series, the first jobs he does are all of the above. Even then, he has been bitten a few times with rogue K's.

I honestly wouldn't bother with this car, and others have said the same. It is a cooking hatchback, so the chassis leg needs to be done right, by someone who knows what they are doing, otherwise it could be a coffin on wheels. If you do actually get it for scrap money ,and it has a good interior, it could be shrewd to break it. There is always good demand for tidy MG Z seats, because with a bit of alteration, they fit in lots of other cars. I know someone with MG Z front seats in their Felicia Fun pickup.

The Dear Leader has died. Although this will mean no further updates to this: http://kimjongillookingatthings.tumblr.com/

True shiteist, Pyeongyang has a fleet of Dacia cabs, Volvo 144s and plenty of bizarre North Korean rammle and a penchant for dictator spec Mercs that make him look like an Asian Idi Amin.

That said, he was at the face of a brutal regime which is most likely responsible for the death of millions.

Yep, spent money on half-assed ballistic missiles while half a million people starved to death. I watched a programme about a year ago which was the story of a young woman who had escaped from N.K. She had managed to get into China, made her way to Hong Kong and then to South Korea. The poor girl was terrified when she got to Seoul, such a culture shock. When she was interviewed, she told how the NK regime "education programme" said that everyone in the west was dying of starvation and disease, and that there was no rule of law.

Kim Jong, Ill no more.

Is it the way the photo is taken or does that seem to be leaning the wrong way for the direction it's cornering?

More bike lean than car lean. :?

Weighed down by all the bigotry in the drvers seat?

BNP sticker and it's leaning to the LEFT? What gives?

No, NIW is a County Londonderry reg mark, so he'll be shagging sheep in the back of that Disco. Not black sheep, of course! :D

Letter from the Inland Revenue or whoever they are these days, think it's saying they owe me £255.

Barclays have kindly given me £6000.

After a bit of hassle over changing jobs (same company/group) I've got a £223 bonus, should have been more but better than not having a job so I'll let that slide.

Might get into next year not owing anyone any money more or less for the first time in ages.

Just need to have a bash at the C.C. companies in the New Year and see if I can rustle up some more cash.

There's some VERY strange people out there...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... -dozi.html

They have always been strange. Creepy and unfunny, especially when I was a kid. The funniest thing about them was when the were in Panto (Jack and the Beanstalk) and Janette fell off the ladder - the hospital didn't know whether to send her to the paediatric or geriatric ward.

Someone should crush his grapes and jump off her doll's house.

I can't shift the horrible thought that "Fan-dabi-dozi" was probably their "safe word"
