NEW BBC DOCUMENTARY SERIES

Dragonfly Television is looking for young consumers (between the ages of 18 – 35) for an exciting new BBC Three series about how our favourite products are made. For this factual documentary series we are looking for young, confident car owners who are interested in following the journey of a cowhide into the interior of a luxury, top end car.

We are looking for a group of male friends with an interest in cars who would like to track this transformation from rawhide to leather car interior. We are looking to film this in Scotland, probably around mid-November.

If you’re interested in finding out more, please email me directly on: [email protected] with a brief description of yourself and a photo along with a little information about the car you drive, what you like doing in your spare time, where you are based and your contact details.

We hope this will be an insightful and rewarding experience to be part of.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Bit of a misleading statistic really, Norm...

Think about it, all male moslems are called Mohammed as a first name.. their actual name is the next bit, but our system treats the FIRST name as the christian name, from which the stats are derived. Seeing as you will never have a situation where all christian males are named John (for example) the stats are skewed. And besides, who ever heard of a moslem with a christian name?

Being a bloody pedant makes me grin, by the way.

Autofive.. I saw that too, but didn't get further than the word "rawhide" which made me go watch the blues brothers for a while. Prob for the best, really.

The Mackintosh Building, Glasgow School of Art. Just beautiful, utterly eccentric and thoroughly charming. Cheered me up no end, after the trawl thro' the A80 building site, and the other traffic bottlenecks encountered along the way.

Every Moslem I've met is called Mohammed. I worked with a Mohammed, and his first name was Washir. I was like 'Why do they call you Mohammed?' :D

I was amused by the factoid coming from the UK Health Ministry's Orifice of Birth Statistics (or some such high falutin' officious pomposity) that announced "Mohammed" has just replaced "Jack" and "Oliver" as the most popular boy's name for newly hatched Brit-dudes.

Don't know where you saw that but it is WRONG.

Oliver was the most popular boys name in the UK followed by Jack. Mohammed was something like 14th appart from in one area of Birmingham. And not the Birmingham in Alabama. Probably.

Probably hatched by the Daily Mail editorial team.

the daily mail has an editorial team?

i thought all the nazis were dead

This is from yesterdays paper.

As in previous years, the name Mohammed, which ranked 16th, would take top place among boys if all possible spellings were aggregated. But as a spokesman for the Official for National Statistics pointed out, this is potentially misleading if no other names are similarly combined: there were still more Olivers than Mohammeds if you count the 511 Ollies, 127 Oliviers, 124 Ollys, 16 Ollis and 9 Olis born in 2009. The merging of Harry with Henry and Jack with John would produce similar disruptions to the list.

I once read that every western boys name is derived from and means John.. or something. (Possibly wrong on that score, actually).

So, if you include abbreviations and corruptions John is the most popular boys name in the U.K.

Emigration plans now in action.

I will leave end of Jan, this gives me ample time to sort stuff out and means I can appease the family by spending another torturous Christmas with them. Plus I have some lucrative work booked for the first 3 weeks of Jan.

I am going to make this happen. :D

My replacement Sega Saturn arrived, complete with 9 games for 16 quid. So I've been playing it all day and yes, it is as good as I remember

Having studied history it seems about 90% of males in the Medieval period were called John

I "purchased" the new excise licence for the Land Rover yesterday. I was a little vocal in the Post Office though.... The lady next to me spunking over 400 quid for her RR Sport, the bloke behind with his Van (Over 300 quid I think) And lil ol' me, with my close to 2 ton, gas guzzling, planet destroying, rattly old banger, at a grand total of NIL! I felt proper smug as I thanked the counter staff for their assistance..... I was met with a few stares, but I announced on the way out the door, that "Shite is right" ,

"and as for the cost of my insurance......."

"Gone up 37% to £135 per year fully comp........"

"The cost of motoring these days..... tut tut" etc.

Young kid with his tiny euro box had a wide eyed stare when I mentioned the insurance cost, muttered something about £2200 as I left...............!!!!!

I did feel good!

Oh, and on Friday, my youngest stepson Passed off his training at Catterick, and is now a fully fledged soldier, off to Chepstow with 1 Rifles, affiliated to 3 Commando. Off to Afghanistan in April for his 2nd tour. I am so proud of him! He looked fucking ace in his Number 2s. Even got a special award, voted for by his mates, as the most popular recruit! I'm even crying as I type this! Never been so happy.
