What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Nice V there SOC. I've noticed that used ones these days are very reasonable. Cash Converters in Belfast has a mint B.C.Rich V in piano black for £99 at the minute. And I still have a Kerry King wig somewhere...

Still pissing about with a guitar (even though it's past midnight - headphones) I found my old marshall guv'nor (yes it is spelt like that) pedal in the garage - brought it home, been rediscovering the crunchy power chord ;D In fact, I've come up with a medly that I have titled "Since you've been gone I've more than a feeling, here I go again, won't get fooled again so tonight I'm gonna rock you (tonight)"

Sitting at the lights yesterday watching a van reverse out of a space towards me "hmm he's getting a bit close, oh he's stopped, erm coming back again *crunch*" into my rear sliding door.

Now you'd think this should be in the GOM thread as this should be the queue for most people to fly out their car, go red in the face, demand insurance details and start planning that whiplash claim. Since this is the Vanette and he'd merely added another dent I really wasn't bothered. The rather large Maori gentleman who was driving was very apologetic (security guard in a works van) but I really wasn't worried at all. Long and short of it was he gave me $40 from his wallet and we agreed to say no more. If only all accidents were like that, if he'd just driven off I wouldn't have worried.

So I actually got some free money allowing me to buy the Flight of the Conchords boxset (which I can now appreciate far more having been here for a while).

Impossible to play while sitting down, don't they have a little rubber grip thing to rest on your knee?

Can I say I've had two Marshall head units, both of them broke, and then I decided to go with rack units, because I got tired of lugging round big heavy heads, so bought a Marshall preamp and a Marshall power amp (with two effects things), and both Marshall amps broke. They're sh*t! I've got a Boss preamp and another Japanese poweramp (solid state) and they will live longer than I do.

Both broken:

Only half working:

I recently bought a tiny little 'practice amp' that let me put the whole lot in the loft as they're a PITA to set up and take up huge space, and use a 1/2 scale Stratocaster. :)

Dead easy to play sitting down.... ignore the silly grip pad on the lower edge, and stick your right leg through the V instead. With you on marshall amps though, more often broken than not :(

LOL playing a V sitting down. I remember chipping the tip off a mate's Fender Katana like that. He was not best pleased.

Station, what make is the red one - HSH + Floyd Rose - bit of a studio set up going on there. Bet you never use the middle coil on its own. Position 3 - the shiters choice I reckon.

Here's a selection of mine to cheer myself up

I love this thing - it is possibly the Vauxhall Belmont of guitars, but I'll never part with it.

Opposite to the V - at my age I need to sit down to play this.

Pride and joy - 72 Nashville Tele (ex Jerry Donahue). The Fender Amp is the only one I have now - my Marshalls broke too.

My first proper guitar was a burgundy SG - until the headstock snapped off without warning.

I love Telecasters! Twang.

Actually, I almost posted this in the grumpy thread, as these morons seem to be overrunning my town at the moment!

Repost, but worth watching and made me smile again :D

Plus, am I wrong in finding that lass's welsh accent .... enticing?

Smiley things today (bearing in mind I'm a simple lad)

This track -

(NSFW!)

Buggering off out on my bike for a bit and hitting random footpaths, some of which seemed insanely steep. Muddy and grinning

Finding out the Golf is finally fixxored! A week late, but still :)

Banana Bread Beer, of which I intend to alternate with......

Frank's Alcoholic Ginger Beer.

Plus the attentions of a rather nice young lady :)

Confirming that it's not what you know but who you know.

Applied for a part time job I've no experience in at all - only cleaning so not rocket science though.

My CV was forwarded to the boss by someone I knew at my old job who does the HR for that and this new company (same owner).

Had an informal chat about the job etc. and was offered it there and then.

The boss threw the folder with what looked like 40 odd CV's in it into a drawer... no interview for any of those folks...

After a week in France, I now have a severe case of Shiters Neck*

*Y'know, neck strain from noticing some old rammle as you drive past and spin your neck like a bloody owl to have a perv

Getting a letter from the Man (tax man) with a £100 cheque....bloody glad it wasn't a demand for £100.....

Always nice to see a cheque come in! I had a message from the agent dealing with our UK house recently: she's managed to let it for more than I expected, which is doubly marvellous news. Letting it at all is pretty good, but for more...! :D

Where has this lot come from suddenly?, checking my stats over 13000 hits have come from Flickr to my Street Rod Nationals set, i wonder where they are finding the link from?.

After putting this on here on Wednesday, I've gone on to flickr today to see this!

and in the 1/2 hour of uploading this screen shot I've had another 4000 hits!

Just a question, how do you get such high views on Flickr? I have tripled my photostream to over 1200 in less than a year and I still get the same amount.... Its not to do with tags is it?

Posted

I think it is to do with tags, I've tagged everything, I list every car's make and model and just copy and paste it into the tag box so i think they come up everytime someone googles something.

This is what I've have at the moment Tayne

Yeah, but only a tiny percentage of your hits are from google.com and images.google.com - the rest appear to originate at Flickr.

Maybe they've changed their search system? It's hard to believe 85,000 people so far today have typed search strings that match what you've got, compared to a fraction of that a few weeks back. How odd.

Woohoo! I just noticed I've got rid of the "Austin Maxi" tag and I'm now a "BL Wedge." Much better, exactly as in real life. :D

I've just got back from trudging round Beaulieu all day - horrible jouney home but I literally "L-O-L"d at one point. I'd spent the whole time there keeping an eye out for anything Borgward and hit a complete blank. Then what happens? I see a club stalwart driving his Isabella Combi the other way on the M3 on the way home :D

Oh I also met Mr Bickle! A pleasure to make your acquaintance.

I bet the guy who owns that Volvo is a complete flake.
