I was in the other direction though - Rickmansworth. Although as to whether that would be a better drive is debatable.

MM5 decided to comprehensively equip himself with food for the Rock Ferry - Conwy - Ace Cafe - Tooting - Santa Pod - Conwy trip, there were receipts and everything.

I said i would bring food, and you never complained when you were hungry.

I found a Jaffa Cake in my bag at work today, was stuck to my keys

Have just uploaded some pictures onto photobucket, will make a thread tomorrow - everyone feel free to whallop your pictures in too.

Was good to meet afew people whilst at the Ace such as Seth, Kev, Paul and many more.

What makes me grin :-

Work is full of mad people, for instance a woman openly admitted to using fruit for more applications than eating ... ....[M&S VOICE] Not just any woman, bit a Birkenhead woman dribbled with fruit [/M&S VOICE]

Did i mention i have started mocking up the Rebels new engine already ?

(Yep in the rain .... in a vest)

Seeing a broken down Brabus Mercedes broken down on the ringroad near me last night cheered me up no end  The owner looked ready to ring the samaritans  . Never heard of one before and had to look it up-no wonder he was pissed off

I had no keys for my 929. Took the locks off, and wizzed em up to the local locksmiths shop. £25 later I am back in business with full vehicle access, woo-hoo!!!!!

A few weeks back, I noticed that in Southwell (place where people think they are posher than they are), some graffiti had appeared on some wooden hoardings around a building site. The graffiti was in latin, which amused me for the reason someone thought they were being funny and it wasn't just mindless daubings.

Today, what really made me chortle was noticing that over the past week, someone has been out with different coloured paint and corrected the mistakes in the latin. Ironically the building site is a what used to be quite a posh school.

Hey, it was much appreciated, but when you said 'I'll bring food', I thought you'd rock up with a bag of crisps or something.

Mocking up the Rebel engine in a vest eh? Your 'boat' will have an engine quicker than you think....

it's still wrong! Romani ite domum....

ps. I did Latin at school, got an 'O' level and everything. Fat lot of use it is in real life...

My grin is a VT30 form (Mot pass) for my recover-o-shite LT35. It's taken weeks of pain and expense to get it up to the MINIMUM standard for a class VII test but this afternoon it finally got a ticket. Taxing it in the morning. Shame there are only 9 days left in the month but hey.

Today on the M6 I managed to beat my own overtaking record with a twelve minute HGV overtake. Normally I wait until the motorway is reduced to two lanes before attempting such a heroic feat of truck endurance so everyone else can admire my handiwork but today was special. The high point was seeing the colour of the Megabus drivers face who was tailgating me all through my maraton task.

12 Minutes? I'd have you shot for that!

Someone has put the song "HEY, BABY" by DJ Otzi on repeat play in the Mercedes Benz showroom here at Stevenage. It has now been playing for nearly 2 hours again and again and again.....

"Hey-y-y ...Baby!! Ooh! Aah!!"

Last night, this came in for MOT. It passed of course.

Went home, unloaded my bits into my garage that I rent in the council block, to see a 125 Bantam! The bloke also has a Wolseley 1300 in Trafalgar Blue, on a D plate. He told me that there's a Spitfire across the block from him, and a few down the other side is a Messerschmidt. Seems that all my Land Rover stuff is in good company. They also like to challenge people as to their business, which cheered me immensely. I like to think my crap is safe!

Cheers. I'm a thick cunt me. (Cue Terry Fuckwitt jokes) Dunno about the Champ, it came alone last night..............!!

Sorry. Yeah, looks like a Champ.

Yesterday.

Woke up too early, left home before 4.30am in the Camry heading for Malvern to pick up the big batch of nearly 600 magazines I won on eBay. Midlands holiday rush down to the SW and Wales appears to be starting, but not bad at 7am.

Get down there too early, so have a wander around a car boot sale and pick up a few cheapo diecasts. Meet friendly, helpful seller who lives in a nice place (though this seems to apply to much of Malvern) and we bundle and load up the magazines. They all fit in easily.

See a billion Triumphs of varying sorts, as it's their big do down at the Three Counties Showground. Drive back across country, seeing a fantasic old garage and getting photos of a few other good spots. Awful traffic heading SW on the A46, but I'm going the other way at 60-70 :-)

Get to Billing, sadly a rather small amount of Toyotas and one or two others but enjoy having a chat with people. Drive back on one of my favourite roads via Kimbolton to St Neots listening to jazz programmes on Radio 3, home by 6.15pm having driven some 360 miles in total. The Camry was fantastic, though admittedly a bit less sprightly with all the magazines on board.

I now have the fun of going through them all, should keep me amused for a while...

Sounds like an excellent day SL.

seeing a fantasic old garage

The one in Upton upon Severn with the big old haulage trucks by any chance?

It was a truly great day.

That's the place. It vaguely rang a bell when I saw it, found a few photos taken by the HGV enthusiasts on Flickr. Had to take a shot or two of my own of course...
