In 1991, Ford making a type of car that probably should have died in 1981. BMW 6 series it is not.

I'd drive that happily. I don't know why.

One that I have not seen before. Slightly later iteration below in orange looks a more resolved design. Reminds me of the William Towns efforts in the UK.

What all these futuristic dreamers seemed to miss in their dreams of the future - was the pivotal role crash protection would come to play in shaping car design.

Woolwich used to be lovely - a town almost by itself out of London.

Ruined by new development.

Really like these.

I was excited to watch that as I'd always wanted to hear one being given the beans..... But he was told to keep it below 4000rpm.

Kind of defeats the point! Hopefully he'll get another go when it's fixed.

Wheelie Yellow; not sure what it's supposed to be(commentary on the tedious ubiquity of Vanlife pillocks?) and not sure how I ended up watching it, might have been a link someone put up here or the yootoob algo feeding me things other than political bilge. Handknitted british eccentricity. Enjoy.

Not watched it but they have the prototype MG at Gaydon that looks like the Vauxhall Signum, and blow me is it only now I realise it has the same headlights as the Signum/Vectra, which look like my Land Cruiser lights, all of them 2000 cars

Like Slot Mags and jacked up rear ends?

Step this was then,to a small car show from 1987!

Wonder if any of those cars still exist?

I really enjoyed all three parts of this. Really inspiring story told by an unexpectedly engaging old boy.

It’s YouTube at its best, without all the shouting and the ‘everything wrong with my (insert inane nonsense here)!

Sad that he left the topolino behind at the end though, he must have formed quite a bond with that car by the time he and Rosalind reached the end of the journey!
