Been to the dentists to have the root of a tooth I snapped, in a pissed up mountain bike calamity, three years ago, extracted in order to get a bridge fitted.

Shit my pants all afternoon about it.

It actually wasn't that bad and only hurts a little bit. Ive been making up excuses not to have it done for too long and all for nothing.

Full set of gnashers is on the horizon.

Had the 944 serviced and it came back with a big long list of stuff to be done.

Most surprising were the big holes in the sills, mot in June passed without advisaries?

Then there's the lack of compression....

I've had it for more than 20 years and it's done almost 300,000 miles.

So...

Fuck it, I couldn't see anything I really fancied and the Wiki page said that it'd do 0-60 in 6.5 seconds,

That's apparently the same as the bigger engined S2 can manage because it's lighter.

The sills were welded last week at a cost of £££

And it's booked in for rings, bearings, valve seals and too much to list next Wednesday at a cost of ££££

The right decision?

Apparently therre are only 100 944S left on the road.

I'll bet it will be worth £ this time next year!

Finally, finally got the 944 back after what feels like months of pottering about in a Citroen C3, not a delightful motor by any stretch of the imagination. But it's certainly cured any urge I ever had to have a go in a Xsara Picasso.

The 944 feels so taught...

And the old engine feels like a new one.

Sadly I've got to run it in, a thousand miles at under three thousand revs on possibly the reviest engine I've ever sat behind.

Siren went off again this morning at 0045, pager message MVA, car vs. truck. Here's the result:

 

 

 

 

Don't worry, it had apparently been abandoned a few days earlier, presumably after expiring at the road side, so empty upon collision. I'm guessing the impact was 90km/h or thereabouts and the lorry was a fully laden wagon and drag, max. length and possibly max. weight too.

 

This isn't my photo as it would have been framed better if so, though doing so would have probably revealed the trucking company involved. It's a Mitsubishi Mirage wagon, aka those Colt estate with the funny aztec styling rear lights. No rust I saw of either and first registered in March 1992! Had no idea they stayed on sale so long in Japan. When it was towed away, the boot lid frame was jutted up to the B pillar and the impromptu ute look was very FOAD-esque.

 

I've got to admit I briefly toyed with the idea of locating the fuel sender for Nyphur!

I don't think I would have liked to be the truck driver. He must be still shaken up, not knowing if it was unoccupied until after. A first glance I thought the bonnet was the c pillar, did not realise there was the rest of the car between the bonnet and the truck.

I did the MOT lookup thing on it and it failed it's mot 2 years in a row with tyres down to the cord (presumably not the same tyres). 1: It's either not been well looked after, 2: It's been flogged mercilessly, 3: Both

Jaguar has developed a really frustrating vibration that feels like a flat tyre and causes the steering wheel to wobble like mad. It doesn't do it all the time but I did notice tonight if you brake it seems to happen more often afterwards. No closer to knowing what it is, had it tracked and balanced today and although it feels better to drive the vibration has become such an irritant it might be making it's way out soon, insurance is up in a few weeks and it has just put a real downer on everything.

There's an abandoned Grand Voyager about 1/2 a mile from my house. Been there 3-4 days now at least, probably since before Christmas..

Always used to be on a sort-of driveway at the back of a big house backing onto the main road, seldom moving. House has been redveloped and gone up for sale, and the Voyager's been moved 50 yards or so down the road to the nearest street corner. The 'plates are gone, it's got two flat tyres and the slidey door looks like it's partially open.

Looks like a high spec one, it has chrome wheels.

 

It's hardly a dodgy area so I don't understand why someone's done that.

Got a lift in with a mate in a newish (56 plate) golf with heated seats. I like heated seats. Might have to get a car with heated seats, just for the heated seats.

What RichardK says. Brake caliper dragging, so the bearing overheats, the grease runs out and it feels wobbly. Get that sorted quickly. You'll probably feel a hot wheel if you stop next time it happens.

Wheel nuts? That's exactly the symptoms I got before the wheels fell off 30 miles later on the m25...

Quite some time ago I took my A4 for its MOT. My Mot-er is a grand lad. He said to me you need to look at the rear exhaust box hanger. "Its fooked". Then he gave me a pass certificate. Well it wasn't raining this morning, so have a look I did.

A bit pushed for time I cobbled this together in an hour, from the original fence posts in our garden. I didn't bother to paint it because it's survived 60+ years in the ground. Bloody good steel that welsh stuff.

Anyway, job done. Just should have done it sooner.

Daihatsu Applause wheels fit Rover R8s.  This is a true fact and has just saved me a fortune in tyres.  Even the wheel trims are interchangable so you can't even tell I've done it.  Car drives nicer and stops better, which is hardly surprising given the state of the tyres I did have on.
