Gavin and Stacey was a comedy, Ruth Jones played a patriotic Welsh no nonsense girl called Nessa who drives a truck

Just had a visit from the boys in blue regarding my recent expedition to the railway tunnels at Glenfarg. They started by asking if I owned a Lada Hussar, I said yes, they asked where it was, I said it was at my unit. At this point I was wondering if they had found it burnt out somewhere but to my relief he pulls out the front registration plate and asked if I knew where he found it?

I lost it somewhere around the tunnels...
I thought I was really in the shit, he asked why I was there? I explained I was exploring the area and wanted to get some photos of the car inside the tunnels.
The landowner thought that I might have been there poaching pheasants and deer but the police were satisfied with my story and left it at that...
At least I don't have to buy another front number plate now.
Result!

^^^ MrSavvy lost front plate at the Carlisle hotel we stayed in.

They rang me up and would keep it for me. I didnt know it was gone!

I mocked up a white plate on the printer and laminated it.

Called in as I was passing on a job the next week - no need to buy a new one either.. lols

been up top the olds this evening, its the first time in months that i've seen them.

had a ride in the brand new x-trail.

it has much to recommend it, its comfortable to sit in, has a proper dashboard, is a petrol and a manual,

BUT....

BUT...

its got the stupid electric hand brake that most modern do.

it will all end in tears.....

Just watch bullseye i see later ones had posh cars..

Just proved bullseye is for winners.

Is that on a Honda? workmates CRV has that code, has had it for months with no ill effect. He says if it passes the mot he will buy a cheap aftermarket cat for it, or just ignore it some more

Posted

Yeah, don't worry about it. It just means the cat is more or less shagged because the ECU isn't registering enough difference between the pre and post cat O2 sensors.

The car might fail the MOT due to emissions, or it might not, but it doesn't affect running/MPG or anything.

Forgot but I've had the modern ST up on a four poster today. Wife drives it really and days there's a burning rubber smell from the drivers side wheel, she thinks the suspension is knackered again.

Anyway it's not but there's a small oil leak from somewhere at the top corner, that side, of the engine. Looks like it's going on the alternator and fan belt*. Guy in the garage tanks it's that getting hot.

Very tight in the engine bay so sod me fixing it she'll book it in.

Checked out all underneath, looks OK but a small but of random rust high up under the back seat. Will have to get the while car rust proofed properly

Completed my 600 mile round trip to Kent, return journey took nearly 7 hours because of all the traffic. It was that really horrible type of jam that's always moving forwards but not quite enough to completely take your foot off the clutch and creep in first gear. I can increasingly see the appeal of an auto (and radar guided cruise control)

Just helped the teenager friend of my neighbour's son diagnose why his bike won't start. Flat battery obviously, but he thought it was the ignition until I got him to put the lights on and then try -zilch! We've (eventually ) removed the battery and I've lent him my charger. I did offer jump leads, but he was going to stay for dinner so will leave it on charge for a couple of hours. Ksr Moto or something.

I was out looking at the ISS fly past, and couldn't ignore the young lads.

I have now done my good deed, and earned a gin and tonic!

And it started. The lad was so pleased he'd fixed something ( with help).
