That sounds like a good buy! I love these and after I sold my SD1 I was very close to buying one but the garage issue ballsed me up. Even my council garage, which is quite big was way too short when I got my measuring tape out. You can get the early ones in SWB, which are a bit more garage compatible.

"Regrets, I've had a few, but then again, no sod it, I wish I'd had an XJ6 Series 2 or 3 in the '90s when you couldn't give the damn things away"

Lovely, hopefully the important bits are solid!

News: I saw a picture online of how to remove the clock on the Honda whilst trying to work out where to check for non-working reverse lights. At 3am. Then I wanted to go and take the clock out of the car. At 3am.

Didn't, because I don't do enough work if waking up at lunchtime. But it's calling me. Calling. "You can fix that one blown bulb. You can. It will change your life and make the car almost perfect* and it won't be fiddly at all. You'll probably have the bulb in your stash. Go on. Take it out of the dash. Do it. Do it now."

Gave in. Discovered that three screws are missing that hold the radio/heater/clock panel on. And despite that the cabin is free of rattles. Damn, Honda, that's precision (seriously, the clock was so perfectly installed it looked like a single piece. Seamless. Weird tiny bulb though, no spares to fit.

Citroen GS refused to rise on it suspension this morning after not moving for three weeks.

Advice from a Citroen specialist said the pump plunger sometime seizes and just run the engine up to temperature.

That worked the car has now lifted its self up.

Camry was leaking in the boot. A highly forensic investigation revealed that the air vent thingy had a mounting clip broken, so was letting in the outside.

This was hidden behind the bumper, so lights out and bumper off. 8 bolts and 7 spring clips and it was off. Gloriously easy.

Although I hate trim / spring clips. Work ok when new, don't age well.

Flappy air bit revealed with a lovely gap for interior irrigation at the top

Some structural silicone later and all should be good.

All back together as easily as it came apart. Jobsagudun.

Which model of Camry do you have dan, I've been eyeing up some of the Later V6 versions as a replacement for the accord coupe when the gear box inevitably implodes.

Get the honda ones if your keeping it, they last for years where as all the aftermarket jobs blow with a frustrating regularity.

It will be a fiver a bulb mind.

Are you suggesting that middle aged GSes have trouble getting up in the morning?

New stuff came in the post today.

First shiny new driveshaft. £28 next day delivered via eBay. Looks a solid thing!

Been eyeing up impact wrenches for a while after my last 12v died. Decided to go for another 12v rather than a battery one due to cost. Next day delivered from machine mart. Again feels nicely made.

That impact gun looks a decent thing, I've had my eye on one of those for a while myself.

Christ, is that what you get for £28 these days?! Maybe I'll have a punt at fixing the A-class after all!

I bought a belt for my car listed as "brand new", I didn't expect it to be older than my car. It was cheap though and it seems fine.

Was that from Jolly Good Car Spares?

Correct. I don't have a problem with them but they shouldn't list new old stock as brand new.

Day 2 of the new Fiesta and quite simply, I'm loving the car unlike anything else I've driven in a hell of a long time.

Have found a couple of small dinks and a tiny rust patch in the door seal rubber between the sill on the driver's side which will need tickling with a welder - the passenger side has surface rust only. The back arches are showing signs of bubbling but I'll get those done as the bodywork is pretty damn good on this one.

Sadly can't say the same for the paintwork - although it looks shiny, it was absolutely covered in road tar along the bottom of the car and the roof had lots of black dots and what looks like iron fallout (it lived in London all it's life).

Managed to remove all traces of tar and iron fallout with a mix of Farecla G6 and polished it with Turtle Wax 'Ice' - not Detailing World standards but the transformation was pretty plain to see. I only had time to do passenger side and roof. Will attack the bonnet, boot and driver's side tomorrow. Done the alloys too and also rejuvinated the black trim on the bumpers as they had turned grey over the years.

I absolutely love this car.

V6 1mz-fe. Auto.

Comfy bus, Goes well, very well built and reliable.

Aye it's a fine engine, we have one in the Lexus RX and it goes well in that, sounds similar to my accord coupe really which isnt a suprise as they were made for the US market as well, what sort of MPG do you get out of it?

Looks good Greengartside, I give it 9.6 / 10

For 10 it would have to be Imperial Blue  8)

Mike shampooed the seats in Nugget-Corsa and they were full of ick, which is to be expected.  Apparently they're all lovely and you can see the rainbow in them now, I'll grab some photographs tomorrow when I'm there.

If anyone fancies a very tidy little early Corsa B five door with proper trims and a brand spanking new clutch it's available for several hundred of your earth pounds.  I don't think a Raffle is happening on it, but you never know.

well mondeo failed its mot...

commence welding and buying many parts from euros

I've spent all week doing cover testing for a local garage because their main tester is in spain. The only car that passed straight away without failing or needing a PRS was a mondeo. Ok, a 61 plated mondeo, but still....

My performance dashboard on the MoT system now says I've got an inital failure rate of 81.4%. :D

Got it from J & R on eBay. Elsewhere wanted £115 for them. They seem to build it themselves and boast about build driveshafts for cobras.

Will report back on impact wrench when I get a chance to use it in the next few days. It was a toss up between this and ryobi one. This was half price and in theory more torque.

No idea. Just pour it in when it needs it.

It spends most of its life rattling round town on short trips. It won't be great in that use, so i simply don't work it out. Much happier.

Passed my driving test at the second attempt on this day twenty years ago. Doesn't seem that long ago at all.
