Really enjoyed that. Featured our previous Shitefest location of the Internal Fire Museum of Power too.

Yes, it was really, really good. Glad I watched :)

I now have an LPG focus as part of my collection. First time I have owned a focus and in fact (I think) first ford non commercial vehicle I have owned.

Mr The Shadow kindly dropped it off this morning.

Once cleaned (or interior replaced), v5 obtained it will be pressed into service as my daily with Saab being sold. post-3994-14430914688_thumb.jpg

I'm glad people like Les still exist.

I wish there were more "good garage" tips like this on here.

I was fitting replacement driveshaft snap rings to mrs fp's car when my neighbour pulled up her zafira causing a right racket, she asked me if I'd have a listen, had a look and the oil wasn't even registering on the dipstick, i think she was a little embarrassed but masked it with humour

Been and changed the alloys this afternoon on the Sierra, It worked out well as a lad at the garage bought the old alloys of me for £30. It's looks miles better now. Next job is to sort the bodywork out.

I've been helping* my friend get his Yaris MoT test ready, a garage had it up on a ramp and refused to MoT it because the fuel filler neck was "dangerous". I can see why now... The vapour pipe disintegrated when I touched it.

The replacement was a plastic one from a 2004 model off eBay, is the original metal because it's a Japan built car?

I thought all Mk1 Yarises sold in Europe were made in France for some reason.

Your mates Yaris looks like a bucket..........

Dodging the rain I fitted the rear brakes to the civic. Both discs were knackered and each calliper had a stuck slider. Looks good with nice shiny brakes now :-)

Took focus out for a run and found a few issues (apart from it needing a clean)

Speedo is intermittent and keeps stopping it also stalled a few times at lights. Ordered ICV and speed sensor from eBay which should be with me in a few days.

Saw a few interesting* things today, all withou a camera I'm afraid. First a simca 1000 in what looked like everyday use. Closely followed by a beige and not too obviously rusty GS Pallas. Then a house with five XMs in the garden- mostly maroon and dead. Also a couple of early sinker Xantias with the chevrons on the bonnet- all diesel.

Also the biggest convoi exceptionnelle I think I've seen- three 100m wind turbine blades being driven down the road. Each Main truck was towing two sets of bogies. A couple of police outriders and several vans with flashing lights before and aft each one. But they weren't slowing down for oncoming traffic which had to dive off the road as these things were taking up both sides! glad i just met them at a junction really!

Swmbos meriva does that when it wants a feed. It starts with 1/4 left on the dipstick though, which is when i top it up

Project 306 Finale.....for now....

Got the wee bugger back from tame mechanics today, they've replaced an injector, and it purrs like a puddy-tat now - better than before the unfortunate "incident". With diagnostic, part and labour, he relieved me of £130 in folding which I was happy with - considering he normally charges £30+vat for plugging stuff in. And the bit is £90 from GSF, although he may not have got it from there....blimey, seems like I've had a proper result when you look at it. Yay!!

Then suddenly and without warning,

I bought a pineapple. Catching myself agog with surprise.

No I sold them all. Which is what fate may also befall this tinker, depending on how we get on.

It'd be the easiest collection thread though.

"Got on train. Got off train. Paid. Put car in pocket. Got back on train."

Wheels are broken. Far too much positive camber, they look almost vertical. And what's up with those tyres, where's the "speed angle" on the side?

Thinking of buying a Mac Book Pro with delusion of writing an iphone app that's going to make me look like this.

Fuck, it gets expensive fast.

I considered doing that. Had a game idea and everything.

One tiny hitch.

I haven't written a computer program since COBOL ceased being relevant.

Took civic out after doing new brakes all round. Everything hunjy dory till sat at station waiting to pick missus Moog up.

Drove off and after 5 minutes noticed smoke pouring off rear right brakes. It looks like using the handbrake causes the brakes to stick on. Quick fix by never using handbrake from now on

Objective C is about as modern as Cobol it's fucking shite, which is why apple release Swift, which is much more accessible to VB and C# dunces like me.

VB confused the hell out of me. "Draw a button. Now say what you want the button to do."

WTF? UI elements come last! What sorcery is this!

(Years ago there was an application language called "The Last One" - I used it on Apple ][ to write database applications. It was a sort of plain-language system and I don't think I've met anyone else who used it, ever).

A whole lifetime without thinking Honda + sticking brakes.

Now, a week of reading with every mention of Honda including the phrase "sticking brakes".

My new job at the Council requires me to to take a 'driving test' in order to show that I can drive thier vehicles safely. I passed, happily and was granted a card which entitles me to drive any thier 'Light' Council vehicles for the next few years. I was promptly told to go out in one thier Ford Transit Connects and take a another fella to show him where another Council compound was located (right near Ma_Sterling's too) and waste a bit of time as there was nowt to do back at base.

There was a really bad wheel bearing noise on the Transit as I drove it about. I reported straight away but they knew about it already (so why send me out in the bloody thing?) I also got to drive an LDV Maxus, which was actually Ok, yeah, there are much better vans out there (Mercedes Sprinter being amongst my faves) but the LDV is alright for works hack.
