BAD - Truckshite Canter appears to have turded the starter motor.

Woo hoo, it hasn't, it was just a loose hut on the main juice cable.

Must admit I proper love my Canter, it's a tool and a half!

It doesn't take much. Sitting with the boot open for an hour was enough to make my 5 series not want to cough. There's only 1 teeny light in their ffs.

My theory is, as soon as the battery begins to show signs of weakening, replace it.

If I was to work out how much time I've spent pissing about in the past at my hourly rate I'd probably have about

Thirty bob.

Well, one cell was slightly down on electrolyte, so I topped up with a bit of deionised water. It started after an hour of sitting, so clearly the battery isn't totally kaput. Will see how it copes when the weather turns cold again. Curse these modern cars and their lack of starting handle!

Busy old week - XM 1 MoT'd and taxed, Scooter MoT'd and taxed, Van in garage for repair - how the f*** is a boost pipe £129? Still smokey but boost is back and I think she'll be OK.

No need to buy a new 'van'. Damn as I had my eye on a 100k 806 with fsh and a wad of bills ...

I received my eBay bargain n.o.s ramair performance panel filter today for the saph, I wasn't expecting a great deal from it I just wanted it because it's serviceable and free flowing but bloody hell it's made a difference through the Rev range

Air con hasn't worked since I bought the Celica so booked it in to Kwik Fit today. Considering it's a 14 year old 190,000 miles car I thought that getting it working was about as likely as The Sun hiring a journalist, but it is now blowing ice cold and they told me there were no leaks. Will probably turn out there is one and it will last until the first day of a heatwave, but if it does last I may be tempted to keep the car until Autumn

Never had a car with working air-con, I even took up Kwik-Shits offer of no charge if it ain't topped up, which was a challenge as I was close to barrasic. Turns out my Sterling had a seized pump or summat so no charge. Amazingly my company car does have air conditioning and it does work which is very nice, just wish one of bloody Rovers had working air-con.

The Sirion's air con hasn't worked since shortly after I took it to Kwik Fit. Hoping to have the readies to do something about it at some point. It's useful stuff, more so during damp weather I find! I can open the window on a hot day.

The blue ebay Cortina of endless misery i'm trying to flog has finally generated some interest :-D

One lad on BSC has offered a trade for a tidy x300 jag (so much want).

And a local classic breaker/trader has offered a bag cash.

I give you a clue to the result.

Rainwater is getting into the front passenger footwell in the Xantia.  Literally only a few drops right at the top towards the centre of the car so it may just be a blocked drain channel as there are a number of leaves under the bonnet I haven't cleared out.

Unless it's a thing Xantias are noted for, I'm going to treat it like I do any leak of its sort and just clean out any crud that might have collected in stupid places and pray there isn't a rust hole somewhere.

YAY! Clutch fitment organised for the OMGWTFRAFFLEFIND 850.

YAY! Clearout of vehicles underway.

YAY! B230FT engine to come out of the 760 scrapper after all to make the Council Estate a tad nippier.

BOO! The Orion's stay will be very, very brief indeed. Off to a good home though hopefully.

I was reading that advert over on there, It does look very tempting to be fair, just a shame about the few jobs it needs doing, I guess that's what's putting people off.

Still would though.

Dropped the coupe off for its MOT tonight, looking forward to hovering near the phone in a slightly nervous manner all day tomorrow.

No nervous energy expened today, the Accord coupe was the 1st car on the ramp this morning and she passed with flying colours, no advisories nothing to report and the tester even commented how clean the underbody is, result.

Have to say I never saw the point in air con or heated seats until the Volvo, and now I think they're awesome. Unfortunately the chances of finding anything pre 1995 where it works are slim to none

It'll either be a blocked drain OR the glass is coming away from the frame as they do in the XM.

I fixed mine with half a tube of

and it's been fine since! Mine filled up the light cluster which then pissed everywhere when I turned a corner etc in anything more than light drizzle though

Has it got a sunroof? The drain tubes for them are the usual suspects.

Mrs Trigger keeps complaining that the Acclaim is making her wet too.

I had that problem* when I bought Mrs N a Merc convertible, it only lasted a few days though.

it's only a problem if there's gushing involved!

Until she worked out how to put the roof up?

Vulg , has the xantia got an aerial at the front of the roof ? The bases of these leak through the roof console/ interior light and on some cars the central locking reciever unit .

Remove the interior light and you should be able to get to the nut that holds it on . Then silicone is your friend.

@Corsaviour:  No sunroof, thank fuck.

@twosmoke300:  Yes it does have a roof aerial.  I shall check that too.

@the rest of you:  filthy, filthy old men.  Flange.

VA, if the roof light's anything like a 306 jobbie, go in via the lens rather than the body (ATCNBE?). I made right mess of the one on my Peugeot trying to get access to the aerial nut, but eventually I got there and stopped it flapping about and going BWWWRRRRRPPPPPDDDDDDDDBBBBBBB at speed.

I had a delivery of 10m of clear fuel tube today so I set about the 405. It has shown up that air is getting into the fuel housing somewhere. I took it apart and it is the switch halfway up on the back of the filter. it is cracked and air must have been getting in there.

I have cleaned it all up and slavered gasket sealant all over it, fingers crossed that will work (dont think it will). I reckon I might have to replace the housing. Any idea where to get one?

On the Saab there is an oil leak dripping onto the exhaust creating a stink and some funny looks at traffic lights. I have lobbed a bottle of Wynns Engine stop leak to see if that fixes it. If not I will have to get stuck in but having two out of 3 cars out of commission is getting me earache from the missus.

Posted

Its fixed! Completely bypassed the filter housing and ran a clear fuel line through a fuel filter to the pump. What a difference.

Starts straightway pulls really strongly and no hesitation. I think it must have been leaking for a while as the car feels transformed.

Going to do about 1000 miles over the weekend so will see how it holds up.

What makes BWWWRRRRRPPPPPDDDDDDDDBBBBBBB at speed hasn't fallen off yet.
