The new news 24 thread

I've had a morning of mixed fortunes, the V5 has arrived at long last for the 620, annoying the last owner has been re-added to the log book again so it shows him buying the car on the 7/4/17 and me buying it on the 8/4/17 which is wrong but meh, i have it now and the 84 year old buyer of my P6 looks to be cancelling the deal now as no insurance company will touch him because of his age and his astigmatism which is massively annoying for both of us.

Has he tried age UK? Maybe a real life broker could help.

He was waiting for RH to get back but i think he's expecting the worse, he was really disappointed. I did recommend Saga, He's been with Lancaster for 40 years with his MGB and never claimed other than for a windscreen but they won't insurance him on a new policy for the Rover strangely.

Hey, an automatic Colt, WCPGW?

Wonder how fucked a £350 Allegro is.

Why would you turn your sidelights on and not headlamps? Sidelights are practically invisible.

So it illuminates the rear end mainly. I don't know really, it wasn't dark enough for headlights but not dry and light enough for none...

Cars suddenly appearing out of the gloom are a nightmare for truckers, so I tend to put headlights on as soon as conditions get mucky on a motorway.

In other news, exhaust shenanigans. Snapped off after first silencer. Managed to get the nuts off, only to discover that the bolts have been welded to the exhaust. Drat. Now, do I have anything suitable in my stash? Also, gasket fell apart, so I'll just have to mash it together with sealant and hope for the best...

How am I gonna get this old dealer sticker off then? 24 years of sun means it is virtually part of the glass!

Fordperv's advice was good. Now removed. DMB replacement ready to go in the morning.

Got it on. Don't reckon paste will last long, but the correct gasket is on order. It doesn't fit terribly well though. Cheap exhaust is not superb shocker!

Someone has scraped against my Mondeo bumper, and I don't think it was me :-(

I'm surprised that bumper hasn't spontaneously shattered into a thousand pieces, or maybe it's just the later ones that seem to do that?

Not been on for a while. The regular outages were irritating, my wife is still sicking everywhere and work has been MENTAL.

I've been roughly seven weeks without a Volvo on front line duties, so today I did what any right thinking man would do and landed a 2001 automatic S60 T5 SE. It doesn't come with the cherry plate so will be going back onto it's Y-reg shortly. It came with oodles of paperwork, including a 2001-dated printout of it sitting on the forecourt of the same dealer who supplied both my 850S and my 740 Turbo, in 2000 and 1987 respectively... £21,495 sixteen years ago. This week's Radio Times tells of a new programme about '80s double glazing salesmen, called White Gold.

Sounds dreadful, but it does appear to have a Chrysler 2-Litre in it:

It is amazing what you can do with a descent mop and polish. My mate popped over to have a go at my Pogweasel Alpine.

Started to rub down the the suspension parts and check out the brakes. Hoping to get it running this weekend then in for an MOT soon. It's been off the road for 10 years.

My this thread is delivering tonight. Love a bit of Alpine action.

Yo CMS - shouldn't that Volvo have a curvy passenger wiper blade or is it just me? Has headlamp wipers though, so clearly ace. Still one of the most attractive saloons of all time, and I like it more in red than I expected.

Pulled into asda to get some fuel this morning, turned the engine off, opened the door and BEEP BEEP BEEP pause BEEP BEEP BEEP etc. No warning lights, no dash message... Worried, I fueled up, got back in and prayed it started as I was at the front of the pumps... fired up fine. Drove off.

A few miles down the road I remembered I had put the side lights on when I got on the M40 as the weather is shit... Turned them off when I got to work, and no beeping noise...

French car in scare shocker...

old age kicked in yo

On green lane in saltney heading towards the lache there is a mk3 Astra van for sale! As my drive by inspection shows it "looks" tidy and it was only 275 quid!!!

Someone please get it baught

No idea DW... to my shame I don't even know if the headlamp wipers work.

As long as he keeps her supplied with Mars bar and pickled onion sandwiches, I'm sure he'll get away with it.

I had my house contents renewal of the AA this week. £345.00 per year. Rang admiral and got better cover for £103.00. Do I have saved enough to buy a rather nice honda from Cheshire leading used car sales emporium. Bad news is rang to get a quote to insure and £795.00 . Can't do classic. So that's me just running the one car for a while then.

New dmb dealer sticker added! Few air bubbles, because idiot, but still cool for that fake original look!

Just on mk2's. Mk1's are just like any other 90s car!
