I remember reading an article about Tim Bishop in one of the classic car mags years ago.  I was always slightly disappointed that he never tried to import the T700.  I'd give my right bollock for one of those.

Vulg. The method we used to use for reviving Rover key fobs was:

[useful info]

It is a combination of advice from various parties and bitter experience.

It doesn't work every time but worth a go.

I'll try that tomorrow. Yet another method to give a go. I'm resigned at this point to sending the fob away for repair yet also still desperately optimistic enough to try these button/battery/shamanic dance options.

I've got that horrible sinking feeling.  The one just before your email alert goes off on your phone and your wife starts throwing stuff onto the front lawn...

Following on from Pillock's excellent recent tooSavvy-esque selfies in front of iconic motoring locations, I grabbed the opportunity yesterday for a Savvy selfie in front of an actual Savvy. The first I've ever seen in the wild.

BTW - This is what a hangover looks like kids. JUST SAY NO.

MR2 passed it's MOT today, yeah! Only one advisory for a plate that needs welding but he said it's not that bad. That was easy! I was sure the front o/s brake would get flagged up as it's not as good as the other side and the wheel gets a bit hot after use. I might try a caliper repair kit when I'm feeling brave.

Aaah the 2013 charity wax! I met that bouncer bloke, they made wax at waxstock 2014, I bought a pot, and its a bastard to buff off but does work well. i use it for vacuums nowadays though, just due to how much of a bastard it is to buff off

The garage gave me a ball park estimate of at least £500 for replacement of the 205's head gasket.  The figure was not really a huge surprise, but actually hearing someone say it made me stop and think.  When I've finished thinking about it the 205 will know its fate.  I did however book the Stellar in to get its front nearside wheelbearing done next Tuesday.  In the meantime, I'll amuse myself on ebay looking for a possible replacement for the 205.  This is a relatively safe activity because I have not got an ebay account.

On something like a 205 and if I was prepared to bin, I'd be tempted to give it a go replacing a headgasket myself. They're from an age where they weren't jammed packed with pipes, cables and stuff in the engine bay and also last of the easily owner serviceable cars.

'tis a fair point but the 1.6 auto is a 'lean back' engine, making access to the head fixings a bit more difficult.  Clearance at the cambelt end is minimal but there is an access plate in the inner wing which helps when removing the cam belt cover.  Twenty years ago, I would have done the job.  Now, arthritic hips and a general lack of flexibility caused by advancing years make many jobs 'garage only.'

Lol.  I do most jobs on the Reliant because it is so simple and even access is ok, much better than later models.  Recently, the 'walk in the park' aspect of Reliant ownership has soured our relationship  :-D.  It is due for a drive as soon as my joints have recovered from driving the Tipo yesterday.

This is an absolute quote.

Her: What's up? What's the matter??

Me: Bad news.

Her: If you've bought another fucking car I'm 100% leaving you.

Awkward laughter. Not well received.

Just been training in Warrington for the past couple of days. I'm now a trade-plate carrying fleet (read: car mover) has contract, trade plates and all over the UK at the moment.

Nice one ... BorniteIdentity

This place has lots to answer for, I blame it for most of my purchases. I'm sure if I'd never joined this place I'd only own 2 cars.

Congrats Mo.

Does that mean you're competing with Dugong delivery service?

Well done.

There are some aspects of the job which are great, driving all those different cars you will end up with a great knowledge of cars and know what you want when they have devalued enough. Don't forget to take photos as much as you can and while they are of very little interest now, in 10 or 20 years you will have a great library to dip into.

Cheers lads. Gonna try and avoid thumbing for lifts if I can. A lot of the time out office will sort jobs according to where we are. Certainly by Friday I should be by home.

Massive congrats! I like your style, when one dangly mirror Sierra isn't enough, buy another one!

It looks great for the money by the way, I didn't think you could get a decent Sierra for under £750 these days.

You probably still can't...
