Christ-on-a-bike, that's brilliant, Jon. What's the script with it, ex-local authority or something? I'd certainly do it up the council, that's for sure.

They used to have one at local fire station exactly the same as that. This van wasn't ment for me that's for sure as both sellers never replied to me.

How bad is the welding mentioned by the first seller?

I friend of mine has a T reg toyota corolla which she has driven from new. It's on 187000 miles and she has just had a service and the cam belt changed. The previous belt change milage was 64000.

This is how you get value out of a new car, not chopping it in every 3 years. I'll knock up a picture if I see her next week.

Isn't that the £15 Volvo?

Just put Barry Shitpeas down as the previous keeper.

Phoned Doovla. Spoke to a nice lady who was very helpful. Turns out Barry had sent off the V5C stating he acquired it on May 28th and sold it to me on May 7th...

You may remember I posted a pal's Voxhall Monaro on here. Well, the chap is a confirmed Vauxhall nut, and his just got himself this. 1983 1600S, 1 previous owner, 30 odd K miles. Aside from the missing alloy centrecap, it is pretty much as perfect as it looks in the (crappy phone) pics.

Are those alloys original? Maybe it's because usually the well-preserved examples are giffer spec ones, but it looks like it should have steels. Needs some correct font plates too, obv. It does look amazing though!

There is something about those Disastras that makes me go a bit funny inside. I think (although cannot confirm due to a mind ruined by drugs and alcohol) that I really wanted one of them as my first car. Obviously I would have wanted to lower it, black out the windows and make it look totally shit etc but it was never to be and I ended up getting a Hillman Imp.

I could be sat here writing this now with the username Vauxhall Astra. Makes you think.........

Been working on the mk1 cortina today.

Amazing how many people stop to talk and say "My dad had one of those", good but not when you want to get work done!

My mate is a jammy twat. Buys in mot failures and scrap cars as well as cars to do up and sell. He just told me he has had a phone call from a woman who's car has failed its mot and would he be interested in it. Apparently she said its had new brakes but failed mot on sills needing welding. She said she wants scrap value for it as its just sat doing nothing. Mark 5 ford cortina for the grand sum of £150 quid. He said it needs some body bits tidying and not too clean inside but starts and runs. He is unsure whether to keep it or do up and sell. Problem is he is a vw man so if he keeps it it will probably end up slammed to the floor with silly alloys.

Edit. Not too good. Been to look at it and matey boy was severely disappointed. Was actually a mk5 escort. How the woman on phone was confused ill never know

Well finally after weeks of watching and waiting i've managed to bag three bloody magpies, two yesterday one today, a nest of the bleeders just down the road a couple of houses away, they've had dozens of our songbird fledglings over the spring, these have been the most awkward bastards to catch in my trees yet, but at last i've got the buggers on the run, all quiet now...funny how the songbirds seem to know its relatively safe again, they've started singing again where they've been keeping schtum for weeks apart from the blackbird's distress calls when their nests were attacked by those now late maggies..

In other news SWMBO cooked a lovely leg of pork today, my favourite dish, she doesn't like crackling so i scoffed the bloody lot, she salts it and crisps it up beautifully whilst still on the joint, could stuff me face with fresh piping hot crackling all day long, just enough fat stuck to the underside for that exquisite yummy bloody gorging sensation, roast taters cooked in the pork fat, yum yum....i love this woman.

You swallowed that much data storage, and you can't remember? Eat a couple of 4GB DDR3 DIMMs and a SIM card, and then phone yourself to find out what happened.

Epic collection thread tomorrow!........actually that's a fucking lie.

I'm picking up my mk5 estate from a mates factory where it's been in covered storage since february last year. The reason for the italics is, when i bought the car my mate told me i could keep it in his factory for as long as i want, for nowt, it sounded too good to be true?...... it was.

I found out yesterday that a week after i tucked it up on axle stands under a sheet, he got his lads to roll it outside to free up some space. Which is where it's been sat ever since. This is entirely my fault, i should of got my arse in gear and done something with it sooner rather than thinking i could just leave it tucked up indefinitely.

So tomorrow i'm going armed with a fresh battery, easy start, a couple of gallons of juice, and a beavertail.

Expect pictures, expect tears, expect rust!
