Get shut of that Rover and keep pegging away at the BX, you know it's worth it.

I caught a glimpse of 1 maybe two Allegro estates as I drove past yesterday. I've seen other tat in there from time to time so presumed it was a breakers of some kind.

From trucker's eye view, (and due to the thin, short scrubby 'hedge') there's all manner of crap in there. Trucks, buses, cars, plant; you name it, it's been abandoned in there!

Unfortunately, it's got the same problem as the yard o'shite at Todhills on the M6, that I mentioned back in the summer: you can see from the busy motorway right next to it, but there's no obvious way of actually getting good pics without the risk of some problems.

Given that a nearby car transport firm use it as an overspill for their yard, and there are often loaded transporters parked up, and it's really well fenced off, and it's well off the A89; I'd reckon there's active security, who would take a dim view of any trespass into the yards. There's not even a footpath by it, where you could innocently claim to have stumbled into the City of Gold...

I've thought this thro' more than once, can you tell? Still, I reckon there's a way...

North side of the motorway with a Discovery with a flat tyre at the point where the Streetview ends?

Nipped out in the Scirocco for fish & chips yesterday.

the Magpie in Whitby is spectacularly good, but at 150 odd miles each way

it's a bit of a bugger as the chips are cold by the time you get them home.

Sorted, ate them on the pier - car worked faultlessly - two & a half hours

each way at eighty five ish - will advise mpg shortishly.

My auntie used to work at the Magpie.

Came home from work one day feeling exhausted, went for a nap, never woke up.

Brain hemorrhage.

Not saying it was the chips, mind

Yes, it's the north side, more or less opposite Uphall station. Aerial view, seems to have been taken a while ago, 'cos the long grass, to the right of the big shed, right next to the M8, is where the Shitty of Gold is now.

The pic might even have been taken when CRS Logistics were still running from there, hence the numbers of trucks parked up. The yards were split up between a couple of property companies, and Oran Group when CRS went bust, hence their use has changed a bit in a few years.

I'll dig out a proper paper map, and have a look to see what the proper name of that area is.

I'm sure I spotted an SD1 in there a few months ago. Maybe someones hoarding british tat on an industrial scale.

I'm guessing more than one shitter has bought a car using shiply and I'm looking to see how it all works as I fancy that MV6 Omega on RR? If you're buying the car remote how did you handle the signing of the v5?

Did you just bank transfer the money to the seller and hope for the best? How far in advance do they supply the pick up date?

I could just go and get it of course but it's flippin miles aways and I'm a bit short on time just now.

If it's the ex Police one in Barnsley I could collect it for you - it would need taxing though as it says Oct? - the Police camera van was parked on their street today looking for tax/insurance/vat dodgers, smugglers etc.

I can park it at my mum and dad's while you sorted the transport etc.

That's the one. Cheers for the offer that's very kind but I think it's currently down in Lincolnshire somewhere. Pity as I wouldn't mind someone casting their eyes over it.

The plan was to get it shitley'd up the road then sort the tax out once it arrived.

Always fancied one of these and this seems the right spec and price with being the 3.2 with the LSD.

Of course it'll have lead a nice gentle life in the police force.

He said he'd bring it up to Barnsley so that being a little closer it's where I've based my shitely pickup point from. So far best price is £220, which is less than £1 a mile.

Even though that'll fall into the newer dry bumming tax rate, could you not scrounge a lift down from someone, tax it there and run it back? No idea of distance but if it's reasonable then getting it back yourself may mean most of the road tax cost has been paid for compared to Shitley?

As ever, Cav speaks sense. I used Shiply to collect the Golf Cab I bought off Scooters and the 147 I bought off R-R.

In the case of the 147, I just emailed him my details for the V5 and he signed it on my behalf. Paypalled* him the money, and Robert was indeed my mother's brother.

Paypal may be safest bet for the money, as they have a buyer protection scheme in place, although I have no idea how good it is. This only counts, though, if you declare the payment as a purchase (doesn't have to be ebay). The seller will need to pay fees, but that's their problem!

In other news, the 147 now RUNS!!!! And, what's more it hasn't even got a noisy variator. However, it is being an Alfa by flashing lots of fault warnings, including ABS, which will need sorting before I can get it tested.

It's a time thing really. I've no holidays left and all my weekends for the next couple of weeks are spoken for.

It's a shame you (and the Omega) are so far away as I could have taxed it on my trade insurance and whizzed it up there.

Whoops, looks like I'm heading to Mr B/Retro-Geezerville any time to soon to purchase a battering ram style Shitroen. One fully expects it to look as abjectly horrific as the pictures made it appear.

And so to celebrate the 147 finally moving under it's own power, I arranged a trilogy of pasta-shite for your delectation.

If I thought I could get away with leaving them all there with prices in their screens, I would! GR0.3 4 NEIGHBOUR-RELATIONZ!

All very tasty, but he one in the centre is especially spanking. Is that a 159?

Yeah, that's S-S's daily driver. He keeps trying to sell me the 145 and I R HAVE NO PLACE 2 KEEP IT AND OR PAY FOR EEEET.

I just tried to post up a new thread, heavy on photos, but it seems to have got lost in the system. Now I'll have to start all over again. Bugger. This may take some time...

I seem to be suffering from loud and powerful flatulence today. Real snorters and a lot of them.

What makes it unusual is the terrible smell of them. They are real ch eesers with the aroma normally associated with the quite but deadly eggie wiffo variety.

Digestive system has been all over the place since the op but I swear it's like there is a smelly old perkins engine stuck up my jacksay.

Oh and the new pcb for the heater turned up today courtesy of matt from the bx project. And I painted the headlight lenses yellow.

Had to open the window on the way home as it smelt like someone had died last month in the car following a salvo of ARSE THUNDER

You painted the lenses? Noooo! That just makes you look like a Brit abroad. You need either bulb caps or actual yellow bulbs. That's the only way to get the genuine French look.

'tis a facelift late model 156. The lights make it look 159ish.

Not quite, it's a 156, and it's Our Maud's daily for the moment, although financial constraints mean it will have to go in the near future.

I'm thinking, I could have a full fleet re-evaluation between me, Cavette & Wat. Cavette will take Mrs S's 156 and the Cav of Mandy, Wat can take the 145 and Celica, and I'll be able to experience heated seated loveliness in the 480 whilst Mrs S uses the freshly resurrected 147.

I'm off to book some hypnotism lessons......... Look into my (virtual) eyes.......... :D

Ahh, I heard you wanted to swap a Cavalier automatic for the 146! I heart that 156 deeply but couldn't even afford a deposit on it.

Young whippersnapper! back in the old days the lenses were yellow. Coloured bulbs were an 80s invention.

Besides which the meteor already has yellow bulbs.

The steering wheel on the right is a bit of a brit give away.

:D

Anyway I was after the ' off to the dordogne' look..

Btw still farting like a trooper this morning

Impossible!

My fuel consumption test is nearly done. 555.9 miles on one tank in the 80, hoping I can squeeze 600 out of it then work out the actual mpg in real world terms. That would give an average of 41.3 by my reckong (fuel tank size is 14.5 gallons) which is good but could be better. Bear in mind 98% of that is not exactly hanging around communting driving and virtually no bypass or motorway use then I suppose it's pretty good.

I think that equals 13p per mile when veg oil has been factored in, compared to 22.5p per mile (petrol) in the Cavalier.

My brother, who never was the greatest driver, has managed to smash the back of his (otherwise tidy) R-plate Renault Megane into a steel bollard, buggering the tailgate and rear bumper.

Was just wondering if anyone happens to know of anywhere where there is a five door Megane going for scrap that we could get the bits off. A trawl of local yards we know of has only come up with a two-door which, as established in another thread, has a boot rather than a hatch!

We're in Herts, just north of London. I realise it's a bit of a long shot but thought I'd give it a go...

Cheers guys.
