Guest Hooli Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 They'll know what time they captured your plate and also what time the tax was paid on that day. Whether those two compare times+dates or just dates is another matter though! You road tax says from x day not from 12am on x day etc, so I can't see that ever flying. No different from driving to a post office & getting there for opening time to buy tax as far as I can tell.
For Fiats Sake Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 I was keen on having another Y10 in the fleet, I was going to drive up to Scotslandshire for a look in the flesh but as the pooch has been vomiting from both ends I deferred and asked for pictures instead. Imagine a bungee cord holding up a boot floor..... Ahmmm oooooooot! That's a bungee holding up the boot floor! Shame as interior is really nice. He may take scrap money for shell but wants more for parts most of which are shared with the panda and not worth buying just in case. Sills and floor pan also holed in places. I had less welding done on the GTie and that was dear enough, I reckon if you could get someone to take it on you'd be looking at 4-5k to get it solid, especially as so much fabrication would be needed for the non-standard panels.
reb Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 My old store manager is trying to convince me I need to buy a Lancia Delta. I have to wonder what's broken on his that he wants to rob parts for. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
tooSavvy Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Insurance is due for renawal on the MX5 in a couple of days. So today was the day I set for sorting... I HATE sodding about with insurance companies! The renewal from my current insurer was £176.90 so I had a compare and then a flick round the classic insurers but the next cheapest was just over £200. Current insurer is cheapest shocker! So I rang them to renew, while the chap dealing with me was very nice, affable and efficient the amount of bollox he was made to go through by the insurers was astounding. It took so long, I had to go for a shit halfway thru! But, after I requested if they could do any better, he pressed buttons and made ancient computers make buzzing and beeping noises and the answer came back... Yes! £147.20! I paid that pretty bloody quick smart (while wiping). Now just to get the old girl back on the road..... he gave me the quote and I shouted "shit!" but he didn't understand - so he took another £25 off! TS beko1987, xtriple and Sigmund Fraud 3

dollywobbler Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Hmmm. Finances are getting a bit iffy. I fear I can't actually afford to run as many cars as I am. All of them need money spending on them. I fear I'm going to have to sell a car I like. Tam 1
Six-cylinder Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 So which one? 2CV - not a chance Nippa - will not be allowed Honda – Maybe bored with it by now Omega – Odds on favourite Who’s running the betting! trigger, alf892, egg and 1 other 4
dollywobbler Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 The Omega has better handling than the S-MX. It has a nicer-sounding engine. It is more economical. Sadly, I suspect it is also in need of most work. It could really do with new discs and pads up front, the rear section of the exhaust still needs replacing, the diff still leaks and it still needs rust-proofing. Oh, and it should have another spring fitted at the back really.
trigger Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 I was talking to a lad at work last night, he had a R reg Omego 2.0i CD auto that he's owned since 6 months old, he said he scrapped it last week for £140 as the mass air flow sensor needed replacing and he was quoted £300 to fix it and the car wasn't worth it, even though it was tidy and well looked after.
dave21478 Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 This evening the F has been on mole-killing duty. Wait, what? Yeah.... There is a bastard of a mole chewing up the garden and I havent been able to kill it any other way....traps, a thing that fires blank cartridges etc etc....this wee cunt just laughs at them all.Well, this evening he got a good dose of partially unburnt hydrocarbons and hopefully thats choked the bastard. Apparently a few minutes down each hole does the job. When I picked up the F, there was a box of bits in the boot including a de-cat pipe which I fitted straight away because I am mildly retarded and wanted extra broombroom noise. This helps mole killing by making the fumes doubly toxic, I would imagine. richardmorris, cms206, Sigmund Fraud and 9 others 12

dave21478 Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 The escort would need some kind of multiple funnel arrangement to accumulate exhaust gasses from all the leaks. A dose of Metro or Panda on full choke would have worked but I couldnt be harrised dragging either out of where they are parked.

Unfortunately I didn't have the camera with me. British racing green, cream leather with green piping and rear spats. Probably worth every penny of £500k!Company logo on the guy's jacket seemed to say Denver Classic Cars, but I can't find their website.

Drove them down the land to the field next door. Apparently they don't come back in number but if they do a repeat treatment quickly moves them on. Doesn't kill them either.
dollywobbler Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 I forgot an invoice. That may grant the Omega a stay of execution. Supernaut 1

Chris2cv Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 I think that the Stepway is basically the same as my Clio. That is why I liked it! While this may be hard to believe, nothing serious has gone wrong in 14 years, so why wouldn't I want an updated version? As for the 2cv, yes to me it will always be shite, but the days of students and the poor driving a 2cv have long gone. These are now classic and appreciating in value. I will never get rich off mine, or probably break even, but it is currently the most valuable vehicle on fleet! My Clio is superior to my 2cv in practically every way - comfort, economy, reliability, it is 18 years younger etc - but it is worth a lot less. For Fiats Sake 1
omegod Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Went to Nelson to pick up my latest Omega breaker , nice manual 2.5 V6 estate in blue, quite surprised by the condition and it goes like hot shit off a shovel with a sexy V6 growl on the 60 mile journey. I think I'm having second thoughts on breaking it as it's got MOT for a couple of months and is really too good , nice old bloke threw in loads of bit's including the original alloys. DVee8 1
HillmanImp Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Since I took le merde for its MOT in August I literally haven't seen my mate who I own it with despite him living about 2 miles away. It had seized calipers and I parked it up outside I put the handbrake on as I assumed we'd be working on it within a few days. Sadly we didn't and now he's moving house so I went round there last night with a spare battery, gave him the keys, drank some of his vino collapso and agreed that he is going to find a garage to mend it and I'll just give him half of the cost. If he can move it.
