I know I will take some more pics today to show dvsa and make sure I have today's paper in view

If you've already had conversations with the owner about "how this got an MOT" - don't be surprised when you end up with a brick through your window.  I hope I'm grossly over-exaggerating - but the people I've known in life to use bent MOTs aren't the sort who have respectable jobs in the city who discuss concerns over a game of bridge and a herbal tea.

I think you're right to report it.  Totally.  Just be discreet?!

I wonder if the owner has been swapping number plates. I can't imagine even the hookiest tester would let that through if they'd seen it.

I'm not concerned in the slightest to be honest, it's one of the staff at work, my questions have been more of the 'I saw you working on your car, what's up with it?' and 'my car needs mot'ing soon, where did you get yours done?' if he puts any bricks through any windows he will be homeless and jobless, he's not English and maybe cars like his are acceptable back home.

A guy at work has just got 12 months ticket on this

Can anyone explain how as there are no outer sills at all.....

If its not there they cant test it?

Funny* how it failed on a corroded nearside outer sill a couple of years ago.

That's the thing, its not funny at all, I like pretty much everyone on here tries to make sure my car is legal and roadworthy, that golf is a blatant pisstake and pisses me off as I spent lots of money keeping my cars and bikes on the road every year.

That`s a new one ! Never heard of it before, but there again I have led a very sheltered* life. Wouldn`t the garage have checked the VIN number though ?

Can you get a pic of the vin in the window?

Yup will do shortly

Some doods from Glasgow broke down and had the car towed to a garage in duns, the car was as bad as that golf so he reported it to the men in black, that night it miraculously self combusted and took out the car sitting next to it in the back yard,

What a coincidence

Vehicle Registration Number

W554HBV

Model

VOLKSWAGEN GOLF S TDI

VIN (Chassis)

WVWZZZ1JZYU563203

Right plate for the car, mail order MOT it is then.

To be fair my friggin Granny could tell you theres something seriously wrong with that Golf, its not like he's quietly chiselled the inside out of his DPF or whatever. If you are gonna bend or break some rules then you need to apply some discretion, but that's just a piss take. Dob him in the daft ba5tard.

Oh.

I've bought it to break but looking at that Golf this MG would be a more plausible candidate for a dodgy MOT.

I think what's worrying is that it has a currently valid MOT until April so could have been driven around until then. It went for an early MOT in preparation to be sold with a full years ticket!

I'd like to think that the first copper who saw that Golf on the road would stop it.

Dunno what all the fuss is with that golf. New front discs and a rear shock will see it fine

What's better than a rotten, unsafe to drive MOT fail MG TF?

A MK3 Astra with early signs of OMGHGF. At least it's got valid MOT though. And drives okay.

Ironically the MG TF shows no signs of HGF.

Re the Golf, there's no need to drive something that unsafe when you think you could weigh it in for say £60 and £200 would probably see you in something with sills.

That Golf is really something else, I'm amazed that the police haven't pulled it yet, especially as looking at that mileage history it does get a fair bit of use.

In other news it looks like the 620Ti is now out of the window, i was planing on viewing it this afternoon when i got a message of the guy i was buying it off to say the old boy who was trading it in has now started playing silly buggers wanting to mot it and ask for more money after the deal was arranged and undecided if he wants to sell it at all.

So that's probably that then.

Christ! Didn't quite see that in the first picture! Maybe he filled it up with newspaper and filler for the MOT that has now fallen out with all the rain and wet weather?

Either way it needs to be off the road!

Gooner is in for 2 tyres right now! Also gave them 3 programmed Tyre Pressure Sensors to fit. Hopefully this will be the final thing to fix on it.

I hate going to garages that I don't normally use, especially chains. Hate when they find things that are non/minor things and have to debate with them.

Don't debate, just say no I will not be paying for anything extra.
