Rover 75 (Yes, Again)

^^

That's on my Bumtree watch list for next week's epic 'find a wafting barge for mway cruising for less than £400' project during my time off which will most likely end up with me buying a fucked BMW at Cannock unless I'm careful.

I'm hoping BourneIdentity is aiming high for a 2.5, not a mere 2 litre jobbie...

Elaborate...?  ;-)

Beth Towers was the HR Head of the company I worked at during the late 80's early 90's although by the time of the XM anecdote she had left after a serious accident in the tunnel at the end of the M45 in her company car.

This company car was naturally a Rover, but instead of the mid spec she could have had she chose a 416 GTi Twin Cam with leather and air con ( even then, insiders knew Rover engines were shit!) . Anyway she was quite seriously injured and after a long recovery she didn't return( not like they needed the money).

To make this tale even more bizarre , I was taking her home to Ryton On Dunsmore from Highgrove where she'd been at a Princes Trust dinner( my boss was a trustee) as she mentored some young business people, anyway the security at her house was as strict as Highgrove, BMW insisted they had a shed on the front drive with 2 Security people 24 hours.

Tis good - just to be clear, BourneIdentity, don't hold back on my account. I've got a shitlist of about 5 others (not 75s) I want to see next week, and this was only added today, so GIB...

Advert fail. By law, any 75 diesel for sale advert must make reference to the BMW engine being BULLETPROOF, M9

And mention chain driven about 99 times.

I like that Wedgwood one - it's the same wedgwood that my last one was (that was the wrong colour) but it might be a good stop gap until "the one" comes along.  Also think abouting actually MAKING my ideal spec'd car next year.  LOL

I sent the guy a message. He’s keen to see it sold but I’ve quickly discovered £300 is his bottom line.

Don’t ask/Don’t get.

I really want a black or grey one with a personal line interior, so anything like this would just be interim.

Thanks man

Haha it’s been pretty solid tbh. When I picked it up it sounded like it had Timing chain chatter but it turned out to be a duff crank pulley. Gone are the days that crank pulleys are a solid bit of metal

Not amazingly great on fuel like as an auto, probably 38 in the winter knocking about town. Better in summer

Can’t say I found the integra too bad - not as bad as the civic I didn’t think

I was a little hesitant to post this, since it's a mega miles diesel with no MOT, amongst other things. However, it's got green personal line leather, is a really dark blue that sort of looks black if you squint, and is local to you (I think?...) - could this work until you find 'the one'?

That v8 is a very good price for a dealer. Sadly, I’ve never spent 10 large on a car and this isn’t the time to start.

A big mile diesel isn’t for me either. This will likely be an occasional car, so happy to spaff on fuel.

Thanks for the spots so far tho!

I don't think this will interest you but the guy I bought the 620ti off messaged me yesterday to say that he's got a 2004 75 1.8t for sale if i knew anyone, it was the replacement car to my 620 but the mot ran out and he bought a Saab, it's done over 100k but will have a new service and mot and he's looking for around £695. I just liked the interior.

The turbo kettle is quite fun actually - 150 BHP and a good shove too.

Thanks dude. Appreciate it.

That's a MK1 early interior in it, along with MK1 wheels.

There's a brace of lovely coloured 75s on FB Market Place atm.  The first one has sold, the others still around.  I'm pretty sure I've found mine now (more over Christmas hopefully) but these all look smashing.

Maybe, but sometimes I think the price becomes so low that everyone assumes there is.  They might get more interest if the asking price was £500.

Bargain, that interior is really rare. If only i had money and space i would be dangerous.

Here’s some irony.

I offered that dude £250 for the blue interior car. He said £300 was his final price.
