I recon powder coat the original wheels and go British gas on the livery.

Original steel wheels for sure, they suit the van perfectly

Original steels and hubcaps.  And perhaps Police Dog Unit livery?

An Ital van would be a great cla$$ic doggo carrier ^^

Original wheels everytime.

I think the hotpoint or other period branding is a cool idea, but probably not (if it were mine) Telecom, British Gas or Royal Mail, I probably would only reinstate livery like that if I knew it had been that previously. I think something a little bit more unusual like a forgotten brand or, contrary to what I just said, one of the old electricity boards!

I like the standard colour, but I think it would look good in full Central Electricity Generation Board livery, purporting to be a van from a defunct power station such as West Thurrock, but that would involve a total respray, and I'm not sure if the CEGB actually used Ital vans; in my area at least (east Kent), they used Transits and Escorts.

Original wheels slightly banded on the rears.

But then I've always liked this

Although from memory that's a 7cwt with slotted rims.

I like the standard steelies on it. They have a bit of an understated Lotus Cortina look.

Yes, I just assumed that the only thing that sort of shape would be a commer/dodge space and thingy!

Interesting old thing!

TrekMaster

No more than 20 Russian UAZ 452 were imported by a company in Surrey in the late 1970s, who had them converted to RHD.  Branded UMO TrekMaster, given UK type approval to carry a one ton payload, could show a Land Rover up and the low-comp engine would run on parafin

I'm sure there is thread on here about them somewhere

I'd say keep it original.

I don't think it needs a livery, why be something it isn't? Keep it as is, it'll look great for it, simple and understated.

I'll probably just keep it standard, instead just fitting a set of 165/80/13's instead of the original 155SR13 Michelin MX's currently fitted but we'll see, I need to concentrate on the rusty bits first, I have some friends coming over Saturday to help patch it up so things should start moving along.

I've already got the bumpers all off, straightened the bent rear one and painted the brackets and rubbed down, primered and stone chipped the front valance, also been busy ordering loads of service bits of eBay.

It's currently got NGK BP6E plugs but I'm sure I'm right by saying BP6ES's should be ok as they have a suppressor?

I'm sure one of my cars had a mixture of the same suppressed and non-suppressed plugs and it didn't seem to care, should be OK.

Another vote for standard colour. I posted about Hotpoint beige and brown (especially on here) just for interest, from a memory about Ital vans which your van revived.

Maybe you could get the original owner's business name sign-written on it? In keeping with the van's history.

Just thinking, trigger said as a lad he used to sort out the tools in the back. What was the chaps business name at that time? That might be a neat logo for the van.

The chap I bought it from doesn't have a signed van and the original owners probably didn't either, I've tried googling them and there's nothing other than a planning permission notice to change the yard to flats back in 1996.

Keep it blue

Put a mount on each side where the livery goes

Have a range of Polycarbonate sheets sign-written in liveries of your choice, so you can choose as takes your fancy on the day and/or to match the event you are visiting.

It also gives you the ability to widen your list of shows - Stonham Barns / Crufts / Horse of the Year Show / Paul Raymond Revue Bar renunion / Lolo Ferrari Rapido Club / etc.

BPR6ES should be the suppressed version.

Mounts?

Just use magnetic signs.

That's all we did with our minibuses, so we could pull them off if it went in for a service and we could identify the replacement vehicle.
