The tyres were summer tyres so I bought some all seasons.Β  Fitting tyres on a manual machine with centreless wheels is a pain, so I got them done professionally.

Got up yesterday and head over to Catchgate to see Ferguson's.PXL_20251029_080448305.jpg.041d6facde024402e9f9a9de8ad6ddd4.jpg

New tyres fitted I made my way back to the A 68 and turned rightΒ

The holes in the bumper have made themselves even bigger and the chemical metal I repaired it with has come unstuck from whatever gunk was in them previously.

Cut down the old reg and stuck it in the french sized recess, ignoring the screw holes

When in a built up area I tried locking the doors using my dice key for the first time.Β  Unfortunately the wooden die did not agree and disintegrated.Β  Β This morning I took steps to improve durabilityΒ

And then tried copying Peter C with making some mounts for 14" speakers for the l322.Β Β

Had to run my rents to the hospital in Newcastle yesterday.Β  120 miles, the first 20 in floods up to 20" or so.Β  Took the l322 obviously.Β  Managed 20mpg which I thought was OK, rents were very comfortable.Β  It's really fucking capable but I probably should actually advertise it for sale as I seem to be doing about Β£20k of work on the house as of this week FFS.

Have some pictures of a day, including what I reckon to be a calendar shot of "the graveyard" with @Jimbob McGregor

Nice.

I've pretty much condemned myself to permanent HAVS and tinnitus off the back of the amount of hours I've spent sanding floors in here, still, it's a satisfying job.

After much trial and error (And seeing very expensive products yield a David Dickinson-esque orange mess) I can personally recommend the Rustins floor varnish range rather than wax/osmo or or any of the other stuff. Cheap, looks great, readily available,Β  easy to apply and most importantly it lasts.

Posted

We're halfway through Osmo raw already, though it was great on our last floor.Β  That was Sapele, however.

RE Osmo Raw, we found it seemed to go 'yellow' over time.... but.... that was on a 1930s pitch pine floor.

I'm sure it reacts differently depending on what you're working with. Either way, looks to be a great job so far man πŸ‘ŒΒ

I'm told it runs! It's not had an oil change in a while so it's got modern lightweight oil in for a quick flush during the MOT.

Loving your helpers cleaning the gaps in the floorboards. Tried to get my three to do that once, but they rebelled!!Β

Did you seal the gaps? I’ve tried the sawdust and glue and also hammering in the thin strips covered in glue but both have limited lifespan…..

Meanwhile on the evening project, it's all change as half of the floor has dried and it's time for the other half.

Yes, 120grit dust and Mix and Fill.Β  It... Would have been better with a second round. As it is it's better than its ever been.

Random bit of cedar is one of the old shelves, used as infill on the concrete where the post office safe used to sit.
