Bo11ox gets a garage

I seem to have gained a 600 too, from my dad who decided he no longer wanted it after someone drove into it bashing the side in. It's very reliable, starts first time every time and has good brakes and heater. It's only a lowly 1.8 auto, but it does have cream dashboard and leather which makes up for it. What is appealing about them compared to the 75 is that they're completely unloved, you can't give them away, and the oily bits are bulletproof and relatively simple to work on.

Garage looks great! I've got an open sided barn at my rented cottage, but it is nice to be able to pull the doors shut behind the car with a proper garage and get the heater on while you work during the winter.

Like the project. Why would you want to listen to Spanish radio though?

You can get blue tooth speakers built into lightbulbs . Quit handy for limited space and power points although it might just end up

Being a shit speaker and a shit light bulb.

I was in wilco the other day - they have these on demo so you can just hook your phone up and play. I surprised that it was better than I expected - I mean it's not a Quad electrostatic, but what is?

Good update Mr B , I still have the rear quarter glass for your Ibiza in my shed, if it's no longer needed let me know and I'll bin it but it's fine where it is should you still want it at some point

Good going there senor bo11

Ditto said above about keeping junk out of there. I promised myself the garage would be *car only* but failed within weeks. Somewhere under all that furniture and archaic computers there is a mk1 Alfa 33 that needs to see daylight again

Because failed Steptoe.

for the first time in my life I actually have a garage at my home address, flippin fantastic.

It's a great feeling isn't it? It's not that long ago that I had my first one, one of those pre-fab concrete slab things with an asbestos roof. If I wanted power it was an extension lead from the house, and the condensation in there was horrendous. But I loved it anyway. Now I've got a nice warm brick one on the side of the house with amenities and choons I don't know I'm born.

Looks a grand job, may you enjoy many years of happy fixing in there!

Nice. No garage at my new house but I do have a class 4/5/7 MoT station just round the corner. :)

One-up-shite-ship?

Actually I did have to spend £12 on some new HT leads a while back, as one started letting the sparks escape too early.

Brilliant stuff, happy tinkering Bo11! Having a garage to potter around in is good for the soul. If I didn't have mine I'd just be slumped in front of the telly drinking wine every evening.

Think we got a sneak preview on the garage front in another thread a while back.   I remember thinking how nice those green doors are.   Not in Shakin Stevens way, I might add....

Nice one Mr B. Congrats on house and garage.

Ultimately nowhere to "do" cars was a big factor in my giving up on them as a hobby.

Inevitably they break when it raining and rolling around in the street in cold p*ssing rain does not a pleasant pass time make!

Even when I had access to a shed at a work it seemed like so much bother to go up there and I'd always forget something.

Wishing you both a happy, fruitful and fun-filled shite maintaining future together!

Garage ftw. I want to do the roof on mine because it's made from tin and it's all getting a little bit British Leyland. Useful to have junk storage off to one side. Saves the rest of it filling up and getting in the way :)

Biturbo (and Rover 75, Rover 45, Argenta and Ibiza) are al still up the unit. They can start making their way down here when i get this Maz 323 and Hyundai Pony fettled and re-homed!!! I'm paying ****too much*** for storage on em all so its quite a strong incentive to get some garage progress going at last (he said, mid-way through installing a shower and about to head off to Screwfix again FFS)

+1 on retaining the barn doors; great for retro appeal and retaining period authenticity. Not so great for security though, I suppose.

Here's mine looking the part with my friends 'special needs' Spridget parked outside.

Haha that does look cool & special needs at the same time!

+2 on those garage doors. Much more pleasant on the eye than the standard up-and-over jobbies. What I'd give for a garage. The old man as a big double which is more like a triple as the builder was crap with numbers and added an extra four foot at the end. It's got a pit too. One day...

Oh! There was me thinking it was long gone

This week I've been reclaiming my garage for man cave/car tinkering purposes... which i always promised myself it would be. it's great to have a proper space for it! You've done a grand job there!

We appear to have the same saw.

It must be a shiteist brand, that Irwin firm

This was my one earlier, doing a Tool Woolarding homage to Mr Bo11's garage

I build half a cottage with mine & it's still good. I wouldn't say they are that crap.

Yeah I love the old garage doors with the fluted glass in them, I am defo keeping those. The house is a 1950's job and I am trying to avoid modernising it too much!!! Anyone connected to me on FB will have seen me effing and jeffing about fitting a reclaimed parquet floor over a period of god knows how many weeks.

IMO Spear & Jacksons saws are much much better than the Irwin jack saws and cost less money. I would actually pay more for them if I thought they were actually still made in Sheffield.

Good news. Or else I'd have sent HIrst round to do you over.
