Weighbridge awaits. Ford KA £75

I'm planning on fragging a Ka this weekend unless anyone here wants it. It's tested until March and is a Y plate example without too much corrosion but the clutch is fucked. It can't be driven but it'll be an easy tow.

Located in Wirral.

It belonged to my ex wife so obviously there's no sentimentality attached from me so if you want it let me know.

Sack it off chief. My mate in Birkenhead will give you £60 for it.

Is that the average scrap price for one at the mo?

I have a 54 and 57 to be rid of, 57 rotten boot floor area, 54 generally wanked.

Twas tempted with gumtree but the colossal level of wank puffins offering two conkers and a frog for both whilst expecting a full main dealer warranty and service to make their whole "experience" better fills me with dread.

I think I'll just be happy with one TWINTY for a brave of ka's.

Both mechanically ok as fords seem to be, dreaded tinworm everytime.

Put the fucka on the scales once you’ve chopped the cat off. With luck they’ll pick it up with a grab thru the screens and toss it onto a heap and you can video it on your phone :-)

I've done a clutch on one of these, there's no way to drain the gearbox oil so you've just got to let it dribble out of the driveshaft holes onto your fuckin head, great fun while laying on your back with a massive hangover and your head spinning. Other than that (and managing to pry the shafts out to start with) it's just your average clutch job.

Yeh they are a twat of a clutch for a small simple car. The lack of oil drain is a pita .

The best way to do the driveshafts on fords is to take the os one out first - usually easier as it has the centre bearing then get a thinish screwdriver and use it to knock the ns out from inside the box across the diff pin .

But yeh frag the fucker

Oh yes. I just the cat from my recently departed 323i on Ebay for 55 quid.

Ker-Ching, as they say.

This is Autoshite in action. A very common car that needs a repair that it's more than likely never going to get so it's scrapped.

Few years none left, mega money. That said you could say that about most cars. Would I fix it. Yeah, but then I'm a dick.

The wife has had two of these, I fucking hate them with a passion. Rusty heaps of shite. Please kill them with fire

Posted

I ran three, two mine, one of which was new. They're great wee things but the rust is just katastrophic. There will be next to none of these left in another 5-10 years.

The Mini and 1100 were the same in the 70's and 80's - rust buckets that were scrapped in massive numbers but classic status saved a few Minis.

Never tried one. Never liked them. However I am tempted to buy one and give it a go while they're so cheap. Apparently they're great fun to drive.

Here's a couple of pics of the little beastie. Conveniently outside a vets so I can have it put down.

They're a decent nippy drive for what they are, but as mentioned the rust is unbelievable on them. If you buy one The sills will need welded if they haven't been patched up a million times already. The fuel cap rots, around the rear wiper rots, under the doors rot. Everywhere rots

Posted

Well somebody come and buy mine as the sills are original, not rotted through and the fuel cap surround isn't that bad either.

I thought the fuel cap was the only bit that didn't rot, being plastic.

I would of thought owning a modern that you can spend your weekends setting tappets and welding a Quality Street tin to the floor would be a sought after commodity on here.

As a special treat for the lady in your life this Xmas for an extra £50 I'll roller on some pink dulux emulsion and blu tack some eyelashes on it.

There was a place in Sheffield that did just that. Bought up all the gopping Ka’s they could find, trowelled on some gobbo over the holes and sprayed them pink. Knocking them out at £1500 or so to impressionable female new drivers. Nice little business that.

To be fair that does look mint for a Y reg. Amazed that one of these could last almost 20 years

Still not sold.

... In the 'spirit' of the thread - tinworm score/less than average - how about just mashing the whole drive line from another & make it an A$ 'bike'.. ??

If the handling experience is so rewarding/immersive then a 'track day bike'... MOT into the far distance too!

2centz

Far from it, what should happen is someone takes something like this on and saves it. The trouble is they're two a penny and also fucking awful, so the bridge is the best place.
