2hr drive to the water. Ate breakfast before realising that I'm meant to take a picture of it beforehand. Too early (or late) for this malarkey...

Stopped for pez at Tesco Ayr. On way back out stopped at a Spar, but didn't see any of those Turkish Panda biscuits Tamworthbay is craving for, so settled for these munchies instead:

Having disembarked at Cairnryan, North. Now in Glasgow (Knightswood). Going to have a power nap before calling on mate.

We'll have a chat over breakfast, but the collection is Monday. However I've no idea if there might be a collection within a collection to do. Who knows?

Are you bringing back one of the Reliant?

Not this time. Need to make some space that I don't have at the moment.

Yes. Started Co Kildare 0030 Sat, drove 120 miles

0330 Belfast to Cairnryan

0600 leave Cairnryan, drove 85 miles to Glasgow

1000 meet mate

Discussions had with mate (with knacked Polo & Pajero) over breakfast about a far away motor purchase, but no moola and long distance (Lincolnshire) conspired against it. So a plan was hatched to head south to Carlisle to borrow my motor instead (so no collection within a collection :( ):

1445 leave Glasgow

On leaving Gretna Services to head south, was flashed rabidly by a suspected mad man in the mirrors, but it turned out we didn't need to lock the car doors and be ready to bolt, it was a flat OSR tyre - BOLLOCKS

Air pump fooked has fooked plug so out comes the jack and (waste of) space saver.

1700 Get to Carlisle. Tyre shops shut. Nail in Tread.

Tax car online, air and pez and mate follows behind at 50mph back to Glasgow because roller skate wheel on Jizz.

Get back after 2200, having driven circa 400 miles, had no sleep and so far have only managed to lend out one car. #doinitwrong

Time to regroup and find a place to get the tyre fixed on a Sunday.

Well reveal time.

Second ferry last night was to Rothesey, Isle of Bute.

Why? Because this:

A circa 1979 Combi-Camp PLUS trailer tent! For some shite camping next year.

Man-maths say free, but Mrs Maths say pez/ferries/etc. But I say, but you don't understand, it's free!

Sunday after breakfast got the tyre fixed down Tradeston. Indy/part worn tyre place. Blokes sitting around waiting for work. It was like having the whole Williams pit team working for me :) £10. Sorted.

Flip side was having to give Halfords 35 quid for a lighting board. The original plan being scuppered because 20 quid cycle carrier lighting board only has 2m of cable. Bad planning and because Sunday.

When we arrived on Bute, we ended up in the Three-in-one so car smells of doner pizza.

Oh I say!

I have one of those on the top of my transit (well, some of one, minus the chassis), was at Shitefest at the Bubble car museum, great trailer tents indeed :)

Sadly due to rampant rust, a rumbly wheel bearing and a bodged exhaust, I have decided it is time to get shut whilst there is still a test left (May 2018 so not bad at all), so I'm going to be dismantling the tent and maybe flogging it for parts, so if you need anything give me a shout, I may be able to assist :)

Anyone interested in the transit, aside from you must be a bit bonkers, it is a good runner aside from slippy autobox, very good 2.5tdi smiley banana engine, blah blah blah the usual dirt cheap to shiters tariff applies ;)

My Combi-Camp came with a trailer board, but about five minutes work with a screwdriver and the original lights were all working again. Deliciously simple.

They're a great design, though sadly not good enough to make me change my mind about camping. I still hate it.

I'll keep that in mind.

Now I would have gone with the fix the lights option if I were collecting it on the mainland, but given I didn't want to be caught short or lacking something vital and necessitating a trip to the mainland, plug 'n' pray it was.

When you say hate camping, do you include caravanning/motorhoming or just tenting?

With this one, I just happened to contact my mate at the same time as he was going to put it up force ale for his parents, the obvious catch being it's a bit difficult to get to. It was purchased some time ago and brought up from Anglesey and done numerous camping excursions, although in recent times it's been replaced by a Raclet Tamaris (I think) one of those half caravan / half tent folders like the Pennines and Conways.

Should go well with the GS when I sort it out, being in period. :)
