Attention K-Series lickers!!!!!! Also T-Series content, Rover Powertrain stuff

Hi hopefully someone will find this interesting. My late father worked at Land Rover for most of his life and in the 90's was in the powertrain department tasked with selling Rover engines to other companies, he was involved in selling Rover engines to Gaz for example to be used in Volga cars and went to Russia on business trips quite a few times.

I found a load of paperwork relating to his work today and this K-SERIES promotional brochure was within it. Apologies for the camera phone pictures as I don't own a scanner but I think it's still readable.

I had no idea Volga used Rover engines, cheers for that!

Rover did manage to convince various former eastern bloc manufacturers to buy their engines... I still remember being very surprised to find a K16 under the bonnet of a Polonez in a motor show sometime in the early 1990s.

Would love to know if any of those K equipped Montego hacks survive today.

"Racing car technology"-inspired head gasket.

Aha.

Brilliant, interesting red. I want one now.

Shame about the misplaced apostrophes in the paragraph about the Montegos. No wonder Rover didn't survive.

My glass eye. That era of Rover's branding was so good, especially after the cheap and tacky Austin Rover era.

Glad it was found interesting, my sister has a scanner so I will try and redo them for posterity and if I find anything else of interest will post it up.

I have fond memories as a kid of going to Lode Lane on a Saturday with my dad and I also did my school work experience at Lode Lane so finding this stuff bought back some good feels.

Thank you for the promotional brochure and if you can post some scanned copies, I would love to see them.

Interesting because I run a 1992 T16 820 Si with 145k on the clock (owned 15 years) and still running perfectly. I had no idea that Rover sold engines to Russia and they are found in Volga's. As an ex engineer, I always found that Rover engines were well designed so for that reason, I was most interested in the brochure. Thanks for posting it.

The idea of a Rover powered Volga has me struggling to know what to do.

If I found it was a KV6 I'd have real trouble performing basic household tasks until I've recuperated.
