HMC Posted June 15, 2019 Author Posted June 15, 2019 Also- this is one well travelled e36- I think a lot of Scottish shiters have owned it, it’s now in the far corner of Devon; and -hx is a London reg if memory serves.....
Flat4 Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 Kinda glad the Vito is moving closer to me in case it ever needs a new home I missed it as I was on holiday with limited internet access. Well swapped!

Don't forget Essex ? The epic 23 hour collection trip certainly won't be forgotten in a hurry. ?
320touring Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 I bought it from a chap in Blackburn. Snagglepuss viewed it for me, and my brother collected it. I ran it a while then roffled it with Tayne winning it. He gifted it to Supernaut, and he did a shed load of work. Then it was won by the Doctor. Swapped with Norfern Monkey for a Galaxy, Then to you.. Flat4 and The Moog 2

Broadsword Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 That looks fantastic and a lovely colour. You have done well there. Great little pocket rocket!
HMC Posted June 16, 2019 Author Posted June 16, 2019 Thanks! It was very cheap but it all hinged on how honest and open the seller was- and they were. Cheap k series cars Can get not so cheap very easily. Cavcraft 1
Twiggy Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Brilliant - that looks a delicious bit of kit ! HMC 1
Skut Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Can't fault that. Do the boys like it. Sitting on Cairn O Mount in mine at the moment and long as it restarts then I'll vouch for their reliability. (It started they're cool) BorniteIdentity, HMC, privatewire and 5 others 8
HMC Posted June 16, 2019 Author Posted June 16, 2019 Skut, what engine does yours have? TEH fear of buying a dog with a blown head gasket was the big concern I had (it’s a 1.4 )
Garythesnail Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Nice looking thing. I like ignition blue. May be worth giving the coolant bottle a quick clean. Not had an MG flavoured version of one of these but quite like my BRM...... even use it sometimes..... the 8v 214i we had was a good thing too . . .. right up until impact. Still have the hatch and a couple of wings 'just in case'. HMC 1
HMC Posted June 16, 2019 Author Posted June 16, 2019 I always get the build data for a new to me MG Rover, this was no exception.... 500tops, jumpingjehovahs, Cavcraft and 4 others 7
HMC Posted June 16, 2019 Author Posted June 16, 2019 So it’s a Thursday rather than Friday afternoon car then! It really brings out my inner geek as I love the little details such as it being the 500th example, and the snapshot of what else was going on at longbridge on that day etc. LightBulbFun 1
Supernaut Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 The butter knife in the 320i is the official* jacking point cover removal tool. I did think about keeping it for the E36 I have now, but that would be wrong. I use a screwdriver on the 316i. Bucketeer, HMC, The Moog and 2 others 5

TEH fear of buying a dog with a blown head gasket was the big concern I had (it’s a 1.4 ) It's the 1.4 105. On about 123,000 after todays little jaunt. The PO suggested the HG had been done at some point and judging by what I can see of the gasket at the corners of the cylinder head its a MLS as it looks to have a shim. I mustard mit it runs with no thermostat, instead it has a partially blocked off grill and a scangauge gives a digital readout on the temp rather than trusting the idiot gauge. It was just a bodge but it worked and well it stayed. It's done 23,000 miles like that. I had the same fear as you and read a lot of threads on K series HG issues One kiss of death seems to be optimistic owners who says its fine but they have to 'top it up' every few hundred miles. Usually followed a bit later by OMGHGF. Leaks are death it seems as they cause air locks. Barry Cade on here is a huge advocate of the inlet manifold failing on them, giving the same symptoms and resulting in unnecessary HG changes. Useless trivia. Mine was built 6 days after yours. HMC 1
HMC Posted June 16, 2019 Author Posted June 16, 2019 6 days! Interesting info re your cooling system etc- I’ll have to see in I can make out what type of gasket it may have on it. Lovely engine, likes to rev!
HMC Posted June 22, 2019 Author Posted June 22, 2019 As much as I like this, I like the mg zr more for the local zipping down small lanes that I spend most of my time doing .... BMW 320i coupe for sale, auto. Mot to sometime in 2020. Drives well and has been looked after by various shiters who have kept on top of replacing suspension bushes and links and kept it serviced etc. Boston green I think. It’s reasonably tidy but has quite a few small dents and scuffs on most panels. Good tyres, sport leather, 2 key starting procedure, nice cruiser. located Tavistock and I’d like £200 dome, Skizzer, Coprolalia and 3 others 6
The Moog Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 That is bargainous.... It's a properly nice car. Got cruise control which makes it a nice place to be on the motorway
HMC Posted June 22, 2019 Author Posted June 22, 2019 Yes, very relaxing , man down my street growing up was called ken. He used to cruise about in an e28. I feel like “ken” in this. B reg, white 528i , Williams of Manchester dealer stickers. I loved that car. Got driven in it to watch “hot shots part deux” in it with his son; 1992 I think. The Moog and Bucketeer 2
Six-cylinder Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 I don't even know why I was looking, I can't match that pace of action!
