Whilst browsing some of the fine vehicles at the festival of the unexceptional yesterday with the good lady my phone pinged with a 10 minute item ending on Ebay. Obviously I showed this to the other half and she being unlike any other woman I've dated immediately encouraged me to put a bid on it. As i have no room at 36014 towers for any more motors, losing my lodger at the end of the month, and being otherwise pretty broke I obviously immediately placed one bid for the next bid price up. Was very surprised to be the highest bidder, but no worries its obviously going to go up a fair chunk in the last few minutes. So more wandering around the show with limited 4g and later on suddenly remembered the auction and wondered how much it sold for eventually. Check phone and.........Bugger!, only gone and won the damn thing. Cue mass panic, trying to palm it off on Dollywobbler and six cylinder, and then realising that actually it I could fit it in maybe, and its only bloody money.
So how to get it? car is 80 miles away, girlfriend only has an automatic licence, and I have no automatic cars and the new purchase isn't either. Six cylinder made the very kind offer of a lift from another autoshiter who's name I have unfortunately forgotten, but in the end I've man'd up and booked train tickets for the princely sum of £13. Now I should add that a, I'm not good with crowds, b, get a little panicky in unfamiliar situations, and c, the last time i went on a train i swear there was porters pushing hand carts on the platforms, a friendly station master and Beeching hadn't devastated the network. So there is a strong chance that as I have no one to hold my hand this could end up a complete disaster. So insurance procured for £115 for the year as its 30 years old and eligible for very cheap insurance, and first train needs to be boarded at 1.30pm. I will endeavour to update this thread later as the day progresses.

Well done you. I haven't used public transport in a long time either. I am sure you will be fine. Well done for applying the autoshite logic to your purchase.

Blind Bid, frantic arrangements, collection this afternoon, hmm, sounds familiar!  Best of luck young man!

I have to say the idea of train stations terrifies me, must be something to do with the anxiety I suffer. God only knows where I'm going to park the damn thing!

At least the train station should be fairly quiet on a Sunday. If people get too close, break out a parka and a flask and start taking photos of all the trains. They should avoid you like the plague then.

Good luck. Trains aren't too bad for collections.

Although once you work out how easy they are you end up going halfway across the country for a £200 car.

Bag all packed ready for an adventure. Tiewraps, duct tape, screw drivers and sockets. Oh yes and a gas camping stove I've sold that has to go 5 miles away from where the new car is, saves the hassle of packing it up for postage.

The last time I did that I ended up flying to Airwick Gatport, train to the Isle 'o Shite ferry terminal to hand sheckels to the liar who sold it and drive the 500 miles home. WCPGW?

Petrol station stop. Going to touch and go wether I make it home as seller omitted to mention snapped exhaust! post-740-0-28704000-1500825603_thumb.jpg

Fingers crossed that's all that's wrong with it. I did ask them how the BX rot spots were doing, but they didn't reply? Hopefully not a bad omen....

Made it home. It drives really well. The suspected broken exhaust turns out to be a split in air intake system. The bodywork is pretty damn good, it will need a tickle at some point on the front inner wings. The less said about the interior the better, I've been inside cleaner skips!

Is it as hanging inside as the BeigeX? Moar Pics!

That was in my watchlist too.

Top work!

Glad to see another BX in the autoshite fold.
