£400 worth of Topless Filth

Forget convertibles. Sods law dictates that as soon as you buy one it shall rain like a proper English summer should.

This is cheap with a few hours to go, has MOT, apparently runs well, is located in East Anglia and is being sold by someone with an eBay username you can trust.

Hell, it even got a sunroof which will allow you to enjoy the grey skies above without actually having to deal with the rain (unless the sunroof leaks)

That bubble 121 has sold already - not surprised at that price!!

I might be persuaded to let my F go for 400 quid - I'm going to lose money on it whatever happens.  It's got more test than that one in Hitchin, and the heater fan works on all the speeds.  His does have the advantage (one assumes) of a working fuel gauge however.

I appreciate the man maths, but with my sensible hat on, why buy something you don't want (if you wanted it, you would know what it is) and at a price that is bound to need time and or money spent on?

*Goes outside to burn the sensible hat*

Are there any cheap Nissan 100NXes around at the moment? I imagine they'd be a pretty good fit for your requirements if you could find one

Good shout. Sunny mechanicals and they're cheap cheap. Not many left now though. If you do find one, check that it still has rear turrets.

Look, if you're really brave, buy any cheap 3-door hatch with some test left, weld some scaffold bars across behind the seats and maybe triangulated down to the front inner arches, then lop the roof off. Paint yellow/matt black to taste, bomb around in it for as long as you can stay under the radar. This is on my "to do" list.

Meh. Stop being so dramatic.

I'm sorry for ignoring your location wishes, and this is also above budget but 10 months MoT, £499 and looks really well looked after.

It also looks as dull as shit but I won't be buying it

Lovely.

Only it has a roof. Just like the Avensis I already own.

Thanks nonetheless (!)

I've managed without a fuel guage for 6 months!

See how you get on. I'm not in the business of ripping off chums, but I've got to keep the Sierra in mind. Otherwise it's always going to be 2 steps forward, 2 steps back.

There's a lovely Morello one on eBay but it's big miles and a touch sharp on price.

Noted, cheers

Yes these Mazda 323F (Lantis) got the 2.0 V6, as well as MX6.  Probe's 2.0 was an inline four.  Anyhow, much rather have a Mazda

Mazda MX-6 V6 was a 2.5 like the Probe's :)

You may find one of these for the money...

I did think about buying another broken 306 can for £300 and taking the roof out or modifying it for manual operation. But there are too many cars to try.

There's a guy selling a MK5 Escort cabriolet on Facebook. It's about as Autoshite as it gets. Another shitty old Ford is exactly what I don't need, so I'm probably just going to buy it blind and have it delivered.

Having any Escort after a 306 will be disappoint.

It seems nobody wanted the MGF.  At all.
