Checking out a Rasheen tonight what to look for?

My mum has always fancied one of these, as listed in the eBay thread.

She's asked me to check it out for her. What to look for? Does it seem a good price? Is the 4x4 system unobtainium? How do I check it out?

WTF? That looks ace, let us know what it's like when she's bought it.

Crikey, that’s an obscurity. I have no specific knowledge but it’s a ‘90s Nissan so it could still rust. Basic engine parts might not be an issue but suspension/transmission components could be ‘interesting’ to source. There might be some similarity with the Sunny/Pulsar 4wd models sold here as GTi-R, but given how many of those around now it could still be tricky (I don’t recall seeing any at Japfest on Saturday, yet they used to be common at the shows).

Giving it a more positive AS spin, it looks wacky and ‘should’ be essentially reliable. So long as it’s not an everyday car it could well be worth the risk.

Make sure the 4x4 works. Seem to remember a lot ending up being 2WD.

There was a group of them off towards the HORRIBLY NOISY stand. I can't really add much though. I'm not sure of the origins of the 4WD system either. Typical Japanese I guess - probably won't go wrong, but won't be much fun finding bits when it does.

I have never heard of this car. It is somewhat peculiar, but I like it.

Is it just me who thinks it looks like a baby Wartburg Knight, or is that what they were aiming for?

Hahahaha, now you mention it... not sure much about these but that one looks alright. Doesn't have the bull bars, spare wheel holder etc some of them do.

If the Figaro, Pao etc just aren't weird enough for you...

Seems pretty good for the money. Buy it! There'd never be any issues finding it in the car park, either.

For a minute, I thought you meant one of these carbuncles, but I soon remembered that there's a huge difference between a WiLL and a Rasheen. Obviously.

Post on retro rides jonny69 had one I think ( been a while)

Just make sure any weird trim or body stuff isn't broken as not a lot of them here - seen the rr beuge one and one white one ever - all the oily bits are no problem

It can't just be me that is singing "Rasheen, Rasheen, please don't take my man"

Not the one folks.

Dodgy overspray, tire shine & filler. Oh, and rust.

On the plus side I think he'd take half the asking price.
