When's the next outing?

Aye she's grand.... pride's a bit bruised, along with other bits due to a 6 point harness....

Cars had a big shunt... have to see if it's fixable, or start again...

Do you race yourself?

I've never raced stock cars or hot rods. Done a bit of rallying, hills and sprints in my time. Could be swayed into building a classic hot rod though..

Tie front of car to a big tree, then reverse as fast as you can until you run out of rope. Fixed. :)

I did that with a Manta I drove in a multi-story car park (it pulled out in front of me), pulled the whole slam panel off!

Ah.... big hit unfortunately. Engines well back. Shafts pulled.. turret it shifted about five inches... nearside chassis leg no longer exists.. can't actually select a gear manually... done a good job on it!

I've a mate who owns a recovery firm. He's got a lorry with an hiab. So... I'll trail it to him, stick the corsa on the lorry bed. Strap the bastard down, and see if he can tug it out a bit

If I can get the turret back to where it's supposed to be, I'll stick a leg, front panel, and everything else it needs.

Rubbin' is racin'

Glad she is ok.

My nephew has been punted into the wall a few times too,

his little Micra had to be jigged a couple of times, needed a chassis leg at one point too.

It just makes the little fecker even more determined

Get it fixed and get her back out 8)

From another angle...

The people in the bottom few rows soon cleared their seats when they saw her heading towards them....

I bet Mrs Faker is already plotting her revenge

I'm having a terrible case of deja vu you know!

I hope this one lasts longer than the last one!! (I might even convince Mrs faker to let me have a go in this one)!

Glad to hear your wife is ok (and ready for more). Shame there are no action shots as she flipped the car - would have raised her hero status even further!

New Corsa looks clean as a pin; watching with interest.

Will these do?! From initial tap to hitting the wall. I dropped the phone at this stage!

A little unfortunate.

Probably not happen again......for a while.

Well done on getting a new one, its all part of the fun.

I'm not surprised you dropped your phone at that point! Was the fella who hit her being a knob, or was it just a friendly tap?

That was the final. Mrs faker had a good day up to that point. Wee car's nippy, and she'd two good runs at the front prior to this heat. The guy in the fiesta had spent all three heats behind her.

He'd chased her for a few laps in the final and couldn't get past. That's when I decided to start filming as it was getting interesting. The contact was more than a tap, it was a push, up the quarter which got her quite sideways towards the pitch. He then lifted for her to straighten up I'd say, which brought about the tank slapper. I've no doubt he wanted to have a punt at getting by, but he didn't mean to put her in the wall. He did come up to us in the pits after. Mrs faker will have her revenge!

Fair play to her for getting back on the wagon! What sort of costs are involved in going racing?

Blue one probably cost me nearly a grand all in... car, cage, seat and harness, fuel cell and a bit of engineering, 6x control tyres (2x spare), fiddly bits like cut offs etc. Original purchase price of £175!

No such thing as cheap motorsport then!

I bet you can't wait to get those grim alloys off the new one!

But it's lowered, so might feel a bit more planted on the track.

Are you allowed to re-use everything like the cage, seat-belts etc, in the fresh shell?

Posted

I'd springs in the blue one too... the cage has had a bit of a thump above the screen opening. Still to see what can be used.
