1995 Rover 800 Vitesse fastback-

Tavistock to Knockhill is 512 miles. Easily done over a couple of days.

That's nothing, you should try 1098m from Scottish Borders to Millau in 17 hours......................in a £150 Lancia Thema.

Always fancied one of those Rovers though.

Oberammergau to Mansfield, leave at 6am and picking up a takeaway in town at 9pm. E32 730i, weapon of choice. Stopped for fuel and lunch in Reims, again for the ferry and straight home from Dover.

"I would recommend Sandford Orchards in Crediton. Not much of a detour off the A30/A38. They sell from the farm gate, was about £30 for 40pints last time I bought, they've an award winning scrumpy (which I can and have drunk all day) and some chewy cheesy dry numbers if you're that way inclined (try Shaky Bridge)."

How is it that you don't visit the places close to home?  only 5 miles for me  -  not so much a farm gate as an old cider factory on an industrial estate;  would a couple of 40 pinters be acceptable at Shitefest - and I wouldn't want to take any home. Bring your own tankard.

AND  there is Hanlon's brewery on the Crediton to Exeter road at Half Moon for the dipsomaniacally inclined

My "Like" is conditional Supernaut, you really need to change your mind and get down to / over to Lincolnshire that weekend.

You mean I could have bought this instead of a Bluebird with a knackered head gasket? I'm even in Devon right now FFS!

Only if you want me as your new best friend.

What would you bring for everyone else?

Bluebird with a knackered head gasket? Thread pls.

This Vitesse is CLASS and I encourage Supernaut to buy it and colc to facilitate it.

I may well need help to facilitate it. Mr Centre is not available to collect me from Exeter airport on the date I was planning on.

Hmm. More thinking required, although somebody else can feel free to jump in and buy it, solving my conundrum for me... No? Nobody?

feel free to jump in and buy it

Yeah, sorry, just did. ;)

P.s. Used to work at knockhill on overnight security, single man. One of the hourly duties was the drive slowly round the track inspecting the perimeter fence with a fuckoff great torch... "slowly"... Yeah right!

I really did get rather adept! Then one night I tried to do a 180 on the start/finish straight and sunk in the grass. Had to drag my Volvo 360 out with a dumper truck and RUINED the grass 2 days before a televised BTCC event... Fired I was.

I cannot help with collectioning logisticals (unless transportation between airports/railway stations is required, although Tavistock has no railway), but there is free accommodation approximately 228 miles north-eastish of the car so you can break up your return journey.

It must be done. Birmingham New Street to Plymouth is about 4hrs by train, and then it's a short hop north to the Vitesse of glory. Who's in Plymouth that can facilitate the 15 mile jaunt to Tavistock? Harris?

EDIT - ah well, fair play that man. Is it going further away or close, as a Midlander?

Actually, weren't all the later T16-t lumps upped to 200bhp along with the Tomcat?

Anyone know?

Posted

Yes, facelift (96+) Vitesse were all 200bhp, as were the earlier Vitesse Sports, think this one is just a plain Vitesse, though?

Posted

This is a September 95 standard vitesse. Just thought the 200hp update went hand in hand with the chrome grille face-lift.

I must take this opportunity, Jay, to thank you for saving me from my insane plan.

However, I request a detailed thread with loads of photos!

Fuck off. Just fuck off.

I've been harbouring a foolproof plan to sell my S plate 200bhp Vitesse for about 2.5 times as much, in order to fund a 190 ZT and this pisses all over it.

That is ridiculously good value - a great buy.

Get yerself a manual boost controller and enjoy!

I'm very likely to be squirreling it away in a secret bunker as a future toy, so not much is likely to happen anytime soon!

Though, as the clutch is gone on the Saab I might swap them over for a bit...

I'll keep y'all posted.

Quick dash n grab collecshunning of the mighty Rover Octo-hundred yesterday.

I like. Fookin handles well for an elephant, just like me old one!

Leccy windows fixed.

Many horses appear missing, presumed out to pasture... Will endeavour to wrangle them back in at some point.

Keeper. Stashed. ;)
