Vantman Posted May 11, 2017 Posted May 11, 2017 If needed I would like to donate a HBOL for this model BX--- eddyramrod, strangeangel and purplebargeken 3
stillOrange Posted May 11, 2017 Posted May 11, 2017 There were two of these already in the car. Thank you for the offer nonetheless. Vantman and purplebargeken 2
somewhatfoolish Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 That's forward planning that, an extra HBOL for when you launch the one you're using out of sheer frustration at the vague wording, unclear diagrams and muddy grey and grey lowres pictures that show something that almost, but not quite, completely fails to resemble what is in front of you in glorious rust, paint and perished rubber. Cleon-Fonte and chodweaver 2
Guest Breadvan72 Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 Account update - £570 spent (£500 by me on purchase of car, £70 by stillOrange on transport of car) Funds received (inc funds from stillOrange and me) £645 I have sent the balance of funds that were held by me to stillOrange. dean36014 Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 I so want to see this next to mine! eddyramrod and strangeangel 2

No, no. You're all wrong. BX owners always have two copies of the BoL. One that's soaked in engine oil and LHM, and one for 'best' that you can still actually read. Are the ones in the car the brown ones? They're far more comprehensive than the later blue version. RobT, Vince70, Shep Shepherd and 1 other 4

stillOrange Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 Both are brown... I keep one by bedside for relaxing evening reading before sleep. eddyramrod and strangeangel 2
Cleon-Fonte Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 Me too, it's the best bit of fiction I've read in ages. rob88h, Dave_Q, RobT and 2 others 4 1
dean36014 Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 Well stone me, mine just passed with a clean sheet!!! Shep Shepherd, stillOrange, chodweaver and 5 others 8
Bear Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 I'd like to see this one sometime next to Keith's beige GS Pallas. Just to show how before the 21st century quagmire, each new generation of car was like a new era. And mostly of improvements... chaseracer and eddyramrod 2
AlabamaShrimp Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 How come I've only just seen this thread? Once it's all sorted and a homes been found for it (which hopefully won't be miles away) will there be a chance to be a part owner of it?
mat_the_cat Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 If anybody wants to join me or even just laugh at what I try to do, please let me know. I can't offer any physical help, but have changed the front to rear fuel pipes several times. Front end is easy to access, but the join to the rubber hoses at the rear is awkwardly tucked up between sill and fuel tank. Easiest way to do it is to tie string to the top end of the rubber hoses (access bung under the rear seat) so that they can be pulled downwards and joined to the metal pipes in plenty of space. At that age it's probably best to replace the rubber hoses too if original, but again the string trick is useful! stillOrange, strangeangel, Braddon81 and 2 others 5
stillOrange Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 I went for a road trip with GGG so no tinkering done. Next weekend though I do have some volunteers coming to do stuff to the car.. holbeck, purplebargeken, RobT and 1 other 4
KruJoe Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Is it at all possible that the BX might be MOT'd and driven to Shitefest in two-and-a-half weeks?(Maybe it's too early to say.) If not, would folks like to see it there anyway? I'd volunteer to scoop it up ont' trailer from SO's place, and cart it to Lincs behind the Pleasure Wagon if anyone thinks it would be a good idea. (And back again. Or on to another custodian in the top half of England.)Just thinking aloud here. Please let me know your thoughts, gang. holbeck, eddyramrod, The Moog and 3 others 6
strangeangel Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 I think the plan is to have a working party next weekend, Joe, and see if we can ascertain how far it is from being presentable for an MOT test. It might be able to get there under its own steam (did I really say steam? Jesus, not steam, it's not a bloody Rover) yet. Wouldn't that be something? Fingers crossed... KruJoe and holbeck 2
stillOrange Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 The Saturday tinkering shouldn't stop the car going to the Fest. I can't attend so wouldn't be able to bring it even if it had MOT. Is there another person that would like to take custody after the fest? strangeangel 1
stillOrange Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 Right. Roll call. 320touring Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 I put in £20 and only wanted to contribute to the initial purchase price, with no further involvement wanted. Cheers stillOrange 1
beko1987 Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 I put in £20 and only wanted to contribute to the initial purchase price, with no further involvement wanted. CheersNot even a cheeky go up crail if it's in the area?
HillmanImp Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 I was chatting to an ex BX apologist yesterday, who I mentioned this car to. He said that he has a mountain of spares for these and currently no BX to put them on. Whilst chatting he explained to me that he had a 14 at one time, which I didn't think was that special until I realised what he had actually said was that he once had 14 individual BXs all at the same time, not a BX14. If there is owt that we need for this I can see what he wants for it, if he has it, I imagine it will be a fair price. beko1987, strangeangel, BorniteIdentity and 3 others 6
The Moog Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 I have put cash in and have no interest in ownership, just would like to borrow it for a weekend stillOrange 1
strangeangel Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 I'd like to be one of the car's custodians, further financial contributions are possible (within reason), and happy to throw in my (only semi-competent) spanner wielding. stillOrange 1
Dave_Q Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 I do not wish to own, but would like a brief fondle of it's dashboard switch blanks should it find itself in my general area. stillOrange 1
purplebargeken Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 I have no need to own but would very much like to see it in the metal one day, have a little drive and clean the interior. Not essentially in that order though. stillOrange 1
The Moog Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 , have a little drive and clean the interior. Although beige, I dont think they will be allowing naked drives purplebargeken 1
