PS:  After three years at Sherry and Punting College, Poshbridge, I did a year at a Poly, now calling itself the University of Whereverthefuckthatis, although to be fair it was called THE Polytechnic back in the 1890s or summat.

This morning I had never even heard of a base model BX.  Now I can haz one.  

 

A fine day's work by all concerned.  The spirit of BEIGE is strong.

 

When I have time tomorrow, I will check the PMs from today to see which of the contributors wishes to own a share of the car, and start a group PM to them.  

 

Once the car has been collected and the MoT work has started, I would like to drop out and let someone else take on being registered keeper.  I currently own the car, but in effect hold it on trust for those who have asked for a share and lobbed in cash. Those who have lobbed in cash and said no to a share are splendid types.  Future legal and beneficial ownership needs to be sorted out by discussion.  

 

The seller is doing the V5 transfer to me, and I will get the car added to my group policy if the insurer is OK with it not being at my house.

 

Nighty night.  Yay us.

Id have to spend half a day on decontamination and washing, although I expect the closet 2 bucket rong uns here will lend a hand. Plus if I bring all the kit I'll have no space to sleep in the car, nor have time to stand around chatting bollocks to everyone all day which is what I enjoy about shitefest

Hello, reckless venturers!

 

Collection is being arranged , with thanks to stiilOrange for taking this on (and storage too). 

 

The purchase price has been fully funded, and there are forty quid in hand towards expenses.  If anyone else wants to bung in some more, that would be great, thanks.

 

I have to work now but this evening will contact those who have asked (or ask today and lob in cash) to have a share, and suggest they form an owners group and make future decisions about the car.      They could maybe ask the bASe group for tips on how their chaoticd free for all  system of Germanic efficiency runs. 

 

Thanks again for such a rapid and successful (thus far) mob funding effort.

This morning the project received further CASH MUNY, so many thanks indeed.

 

Currently 500 paid out, 610 paid in.   In due course I will transfer any surplus to the ownership group when it forms. 

 

This place really is the most positive and upbeat place on the whole wide internet.

I am transferring the current funding surplus to stillOrange to defray transport costs and the cost of an initial MoT test , which the car will likely fail, but which will generate a to do list.

Good luck with all of this - you reckless eejits.

 

What can I tell you all from the experience of the bASe?  Well, it'll be something you never forget.  It's worth formalising an agreement in writing about disbanding and selling shares, otherwise just try to be grown ups about it.  Accept that everyone on here is a mentalist in one way or another, and try to get along!  We never had any problems, but there were only 4 or 5 of us so it was pretty easy.

I can smell that interior from here. Fabulous.

 

It looks more like something out of Blade Runner than a family car. It'll be a shame to clean it.

That looks exactly like my 1984 19RD, except that (1) mine was grey (2) even when filthy, mine was a lot cleaner than that. Properly minging, that one. 

 

That said, the indicators were super-cool, though operating main beam (or was it the flashing headlights function?) was way less intuitive. Either way, a properly ace car at the time, and I'd happily have another RD.

Just going back to librarians at Newcastle, I once shared a house with an undergrad librarian at Newcastle University.   She had the uncanny ability to glide silently around the house and scare the shit out of you, like Raymond in the IT Crowd.   Handy for a librarian I suppose.

 

No shenanigans were enjoyed with this young lady although I now wonder if that was a mistake, it's always the quiet ones you've got to watch.

 

EDIT - forgot to say - epic work on the BX of Beige, I can haz jelus.
