Laughable TV car chases

The best chases are in Shaun the Sheep. The pigs in their pink Astra convertible and Bitza chasing the caravan which ends up in the street near a base model sierra are ace

Totally. The attention to vehicular detail in anything Aardman is frequently top notch and deeply satisfying to watch.

In Cars 2, for the Tokyo race, Lightning McQueen wears his racing wheels. However, in one scene, when the start lights are showing, McQueen is seen with his party wheels on instead of his racing wheels!

It absolutely ruins the realism of the film for me.  I also heard the Internet exploded with rage.

Right in the childhood, cheers.

I still haven't come to terms with him 'walking the plank'.

Safe to say pretty much any car film ever made has hilarious errors, though. *shocked face*

Steve McQueen seemed to have a sixteen speed gearbox in Bullitt

James Bond (Diamonds Are Forever) went into an alley on two wheels, appearing at the other side on the other two wheels instead. That's some special shape-shifting Mustang.

That DOES happen in Diamonds Are Forever, but was noticed in editing. It was too late to re-shoot, but they did shoot a few frames showing Bond and Tiffany Case through the windscreen, where the film was messed about with. This made it look like the car landed on its wheels again before going onto another ramp that flipped it onto the opposite two wheels. It all makes sense then, but it's easily missed, as it's only a few frames of footage.

That's on the DVD/Blu-Ray though. ITV seem to insist on airing a version that shows the original mistake, for some reason.

Elsewhere in the film though a wheel comes off a moon buggy and rolls across the shot. That's never been edited out.

Not quite Car Chases, But......Has anyone ever watched Casualty when they have a car crash/accident of some sort?....They are usually hysterical because they are so shit,

Like for example, a car crash at definitely no more than...10-15mph, & one of the car's barrel rolls several times, before careering through something like a fruit & veg stall, before landing on it's wheels & then being hit by a distracted lorry driver, Who inevitability, loses control of the lorry, which then barrel rolls several times, before careering through a pie & mash stall.....then blowing up like an oil refinery explosion...

The above is far fetched of course.....But that is what usually happens & i fall about laughing.

See also every episode ever of Londons Burning.

Opening scene.....guy having breakfast arguing with his wife about whether they can afford a new pram for their baby. He storms out saying he will just work more overtime.

Meanwhile, some chavs steal an XR3i.

Footage of XR3i being handbrake turned in an empty carpark and cuts of it weaving along through traffic.

The first guy arrives at work digging a hole at the side of the road with an old BT van next to it.

Cuts to XR3i racing along the carriageway.

Cuts back to guy at roadworks; Camera zooms out showing a suspiciosly ramp-shaped pile of sand, then pans round and lingers over a truck full of Calor gas bottles stuck in the traffic.

Driver of Calor truck fiddles with the radio.

XR3i races at high* speed towards the roadworks. Chav gets distracted by a kitten emerging from under the BT van.

The XR3i disappears and a 3door escort 1.3L goes up the ramp, flips five times and mayhem ensues.....

XR3i races at high* speed

By that, I guess you mean no more than 10-15mph.......lol. I did not pay much attention to Londons Burning.....But it sounds like it is worth watching just for the comedy value....Like Casualty car crashes.

Further to my above post & apologies for taking this thread off topic a little.....I had a little look on the Tube of You at Londons Burning Crashes....This one seems like it is from the makers of casualty.....Great racing lines taken by the appliance drivers...& the barrel rolling fire engine......LOLZ... :-D

& Another Classic......Watch out for that parked Transit, with a convenient ramp just placed out of sight.....LOLZ!

The trouble with all these where vehicles explode for no reason is that it comes as a surprise to some people when it doesn't happen in real life. This was experienced years ago at a track day at Castle Coombe when one of the people I was with asked why the Ferrari didn't explode when the driver stuffed it into the bales.

Why have the doors opened on the Escort. Like anything made since medieval times it would have anti burst latches.

I used to love Londons Burning.

This is my favourite.  Who knew the 1984 Dodge Diplomat could survive so much abuse.

I'm more shocked the shonky old CVH could get it to flip past three.  Couldn't get them up hills in our pool cars

 Any of the Herbie films.

The fuel consumption figures are laughable as well.

I smell a rat.  That's a Plymouth Grand Fury getting shot at by the machine gun at 2:46.  What a swiz.

Oh yeah, it is.  There I was thinking they might have managed it with one car..

you know something is gonna crash in some british drama when you realise they've just driven onto "that test track" the one with 4 lane wide country roads with no markings and its always that corner with abit of a gradient just after/before

The car chase in Fear is the Key is actually pretty good although the continuity is a little* patchy they get good value from those Torino's

I'm pretty sure the jump car is used twice...

The bus crashing a few years back ( A reg Oly on false plates ) was comedically bad as well
