NEW New new new New top gear ON HOLD, RIP?

I think the show is starting to settle down a little bit. It also feels as if the studio aspect of things is becoming far less part of things. The Grand Tour have canned that side of things completely now.

Harris is an excellent motoring journalist. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable with no fuss. I expect he’s a nice chap. I think Flintoff is the odd man of the trio - I reckon a different kind of character is needed to obtain a bit of balance. Fuck knows who though.

Worth listening to Harris’ Collecting Cars podcast. His anecdotes and knowledge are excellent.

The episode with Harry Metcalfe is particularly good.

We do the optics for the F35 helmet :-D

No need to call him that, “pilot” would have done.

What chassis And running gear did they use for the rascal?
I'm guessing it was a Daihatsu Fourtrak.

They said it was diahatsu but I thought the wheels looked very shogun to me and I didn't think they had the same stud pattern, must do I suppose.

I’m going to put my neck on the line here and make a prediction:

I reckon that what’s going to happen now is that a load of tedious bores who “don’t like Top Gear, especially with these presenters and with how they treat the cars, it’s all set up anyway” are going to sit down and watch this episode anyway.

After they do, they’re going to be hitting the internet to moan and whinge about how Top Gear isn’t really a car show any more, they’ve smashed the cars up and the presenters aren’t as good as when Chris Goffey was in it.

Sooooo...d'you reckon Paddy will keep up his current trend on these road trips and arrive in one of these?

I’m glad the production team has seemingly zoned in  on these road trips, Sunday evening escapism; burbling through Peru with some banter and stunning scenery whilst storm ciara batters outside our place  with torrential rain and darkness. Sign me up please.

Chris Harris is a great car journalist - with or without TG.

One of my favorites because it’s not in a $2squillion Bugatti or the like:

I crashed that exact same Morgan once. Happy days.

Proper real LOLs tonight with this episode. Especially with a back axle looking like it was held on with rebar.

Better than the Clarkson lot I think. There’s no way the old trio would of been able to tackle the Baja 1000, shame they didn’t get very far like...

BBC obviously agree as they will be moving to BBC1.   Was announced the other morning on BBC breakfast. They are hoping to get same timeslot/day but they dont know.

I think Clarkson & co. from about 10 years ago will never be matched. The chemistry on screen was magic. The last few series they did together though, were tired and very much a case of flogging a dead horse.

The latest trio in my opinion, although better than the other recent presenters, are ok but aren't great. Better than watching Call the midwife though, so I still give it a look.

Look back at the early years of Clarkson,Hammond and May and I think the current trio are further forward as a group and are still finding their feet. Was worried last season as they seemed to be taking the banter with Chris Harris a bit too far, but have sorted that out now and all seems fair.

A presenter not being able to pronounce ‘Gallardo’ is pretty bad.

I don’t mind them, otherwise. Flintoff and Harris, especially.

I’m a little biased as I really couldn’t stand Richard Hammond. Flintoff obviously knows fuck all about cars tbf but he’s there to do the stunts and brings something different, I find Paddy entertaining and obviously Chris Harris is perfect for the role.

Flintoff is a cunt. I don't understand why he's presenting anything on television; he's not funny, entertaining or knowledgable. Same goes for McGuiness, although he does at least seem to be genuinely interested in cars.

The other one seems alright, but the first two make the program completely unwatchable, so I don't.

Road trip- new sports cars

Basically Harris does his thing- road testing- how will the others do a Harris? The other 2 haven’t been placed in a non slapstick not destruction pure road test scenario before.
