Fiat 133 liberation and ejaculation

I found this Fiat 133 while poking in a barn in the Malverns a few years ago. Its presence irked me. I caved in and made the owner an offer he couldn’t refuse – £600 – at the end of last year.

It’s one of five right-hand drive Fiat 133s known to exist (by me, at least). It’s been laid up for 20 years, it’s been coachpainted in Tipp-Ex and it’s missing badges and a bootlid. Otherwise, it’s really not bad. It’s scabby but solid and it’s done 40,000ish miles.

It totally does it for me. However, I’m clearly never going to be arsed to do anything to it, so I might just go to Spain and buy a good SEAT 133 instead.

This excellent problem could be yours for £600.

It’s near Cirencester.

Here are some pictures. For fear of anyone quite-rightly calling be a dickhead, it did have a strap on each wheel for transit. I removed three of them so I didn’t pressure-wash cow shit into them.

I love the no bullshit "styling". It's a car, it takes you places, don't like how it looks? Tough shit pal.

The interior's magnificently puritanical, too. It makes a Trabant look flashy and decadent.

You are not here to enjoy yourself.

I love how it looks exactly like a slightly bigger 126. I only know these exist thanks to My Summer Car - the little green car that drives like a maniac around the dirt roads is apparently a 133 and they were quite popular in Finland.

That looks really solid from here. Old Dorset reg plate as well. Is the exhaust a funky 80's custom job, or Fiat having some design fun?

I remember these being a new one me when I went to Menorca for the first time in the early 1990s. Always loved them.

The bastard child of a 126 and 127 on the floor and running gear of an 850. Knocked together in Franco's Spain. What's not to like.

And it's got lots of spare parts including distributor caps in the boot. A must have.

My uncle had one of those in the mid-70s; my dad was utterly convinced it was a 126, and I had to get him to walk over and read the badge before he'd believe me.

I'd love one of these, but three cars on a three-car driveway means no more motors at the moment.
