(Not a) Suzuki Alto (any more)

At least it's not the badermatic version. A friend of mine has a 2004 model in silver, with the badermatic. It's hilariously* slow, and noisy.

However, they used to have one of the same generation in a natty shade of blue, and it was a manual box. It was quite fun to chuck about, at lower speeds anyway. Wouldn't want to do any motorway work in it.

That instrument panel is offensive, not only is the speedometer font plain, workmanlike and not befitting a car, the rev counter numbers are bigger and use a different font. SCRAP IT.

LP is right, these could give an Austin Ambassador 'L' a run for its money in the 'miserable clocks' stakes.

Pure class. A step above* that silly Japanese saloon thing you had a few weeks ago.

Looks very tidy for one of these, has to be said.

I'll be buying tickets when.

My mate has an auto one of these with about 20k on it for his Mrs. Someone banjaxed on a t junction and he bought it back from the insurance for 75 quid. When it took the hit the suspension arm split because the arm was so rotten. It's quite common in these. PLZ drive carefully.

In a crash, I imagine these to be very much like a Rover 100.

My wife has a 2014 Alto, 1.0 3 cylinder non turbo 5 door. It now has about 9k on the clock from new.

New autoshite. It's fantastic. All so tiny, a bit like the Suzuki Whizzkid from the early 80s. Tiny engine the size of a shoebox which looks like a detailed working scale model of an engine. Has none of the crap on it that you don't need on a car. Especially like the rear door windows which hinge out rather than go up and down with a winder handle or an electric button from the driver's seat. Ran it myself for about 2k miles in the summer and in that time scrubbed all the treads from it's tiny tyres. Great fun and highly recommended future autoshite. Would be even better without power steering tho.

I plaiced my bet it was an Alto, but think there is something fishy with this thread. I'm off to trawl the net.........................

A tiny Suzuki like this once ruined my plans for marriage.

I thought it was going well, I thought she even liked my cars. But she left me at the Alto.

Is it in yet Mirriam? It doesnt even touch the sides.

Top commuter action.

It's a good game trying to guess what you will come up with next even though I've never got anywhere close.

It looks tiny in that pic too, out of curiosity where is it taken

Will the space be as spacious tomorrow, WW?

Rules of buying a car.

1 . Never meet in a secluded place. Such as a car park.

2 . Never meet in the dark.

3 . Always check the car thoroughly.

4 . Always get a written reciept. Ifeally signed by an impartial witness.

Or you can just throw caution to the wind, jump right in with both feet first and let the chips fall where they may.

Ok. Who had 54 hours?

Not even me! My sisters mateis after a good, cheao motor now.

Lucky* you that she only messaged me today.

L1, in case WW didn't say, it has very recently had pads and discs, a bank 2 lambda, and also the number plate lights didn't work when I got it (corroded connector) so I crimped on a couple of spades - I would recommemd taping these up.

Aside from that, when I lent it to my mate for a couple of months or whatever it was, he had no complaints, and it pissed the MOT.

Poor little Alto was a one owner OAP spesh until the lad I got it from was given it by his grandma, now it is becoming somewhat of a bike!

Best of luck with it. It is a great little car. :)

As this small japanese car didnt really fit my overly ample frame, L1 suggested I might like to try a larger Spanish one. Conversely he noted that economy was rising on his list of priorities with a V8 already in the bank.

If only there was some way for us both to be happy........

Im over the moon with this lunatic of a car. It gans dead fast like and is dead comfortable. Ideal for current needs. Hope the Alto does well for Loserone and the L1jnr.

Great to see you again but we really must stop meeting like this.

Cheers overrun, I've not even looked at it properly yet.  Drove home as fast as the toledo got out there though, and Chas fell asleep in the back.

Really love having the lights / indicators on the proper side too.  Could do with a Japanese estate car with similar controls, really.

Sorry, which one? :)
