BMW, Mercedes or Audi - £1k cash waiting! - CAR BOUGHT - WITH PICS

Looking for a tidy:

Mercedes W210

BMW E46

Audi A4

Would prefer petrol and manual. Spec doesn't matter.

Must have long MoT.

Must be in reasonable condition.

£1k cash waiting for the right car.

Must be located as close to Beaconsfield (M40 J3) as possible.

You sound like 85% of posts on those buy and sell facebook groups..... :D

Best of luck with your quest.

Ehh?

My wife's leased BMW is going back and I need a cheap runaround for her whilst I sort out another new motor. That's all.

I have an A4 1.8T Sport that's probably exactly what you're looking for. Santorin Blue pearl metallic, tungsten grey leather, '98 S with 133k on it.

Pulls like a train and I trust it implicitly - it's taken us to Orkney and back this year. Lovely set of refurbished Monoblock staggered AMG 17s for OMG scene points. Only negative point is that the AC compressor was disconnected years back.

It's not for sale, but if it was a bag of sand would do nicely.

HTH.

(EDIT: Regret pointless post. Was meant to be harmlessly obtuse)

What you actually want for her is a mk4 astra 1.6 16V in silver.  That way whatever you buy won't   will be a disappointment. No better car that meets a woman's motoring needs.

An S60 might arguably be a better car at that money than its German equivalent. A lot get owned by older folks who will likely service them on the dot, very understressed, 2.4 manual surprisingly good on the jungle juice. £1000 would get you a very good example as these are a real fucker to sell. £6-700 might get you something decent with some evidence of seeing a spanner recently.

I've got an S210 320 CDI, which is neither petrol nor manual.

If its got to be close to Beaconsfield then there will be no dramatic collection thread ? That not the shiters way !

You would think that but I still haven't stopped laughing yet,

My bosses wife has an 08 bash about car and it now has 80k on it with just two services since new, funnily enough I've just valeted it as it's going to see about a trade in and when I had a look in the book it's freshly stamped up with full history from local dodgy garage.

Someones gonna get a cracker, not

Just joking!

In all seriousness, have you looked at the trade in areas of any car supermarkets on a Sunday? Somebody at work got a very tidy 57 plate 525d for very little outlay by doing just that...

A lot won't deal with the general public though. They usually have a list of traders who'll take whatever comes in cause it's a quick turnaround. They'll have no time for somebody umming and ahhing on a 10 year old BMW, saying they'll have a think about it. Not saying that's what you'll do but at the very least they'd want a pretty much instant decision as they're not in the market of spending time selling old bangers.

That's why they go to auction, quick and no comeback. I drive old bangers but 50% of the people buying them take them as they find them, the other half come over all Dominic Littlewood when it wants some tyres in 3 months or when they look at it start talking about scratches etc.

Not only that, the traders they deal with will often come in and take a job lot - five or six decent cars, a couple of fixeruppers and an utter shitbox, that sort of mix - unlike the public, who'd take the good stuff so that even traders wouldn't take what's left.

New POD - no I don't.

Pete-M - no thank you.

drum - please tell me more about the A6.

The Audi is in Manchester, the Compact looks great (thank you) and the Rover is a Rover (not good).

Although there are somewhat challenged in the rust/breakage dept, the Coupe is a pretty car. Orient blue?

As the E90/92 sinks ever deeper into council territory, a mint E46 Coupe looks good.
