Shit fuckin day yesterday

Had to go to fullham hospital for some tests yesterday, had to be there by 10.45 am so left upminster and went via m25 then a40 to miss london traffic.

Used my motobility nissan Juke for reliability.

Got within 10 miles and lost all drive, managed to pursuade it to go in 2mile steps stopping to let it cool down for 10 mins each time, fuckin thing has only done 900 miles from new.

Got there with minutes to spare.

Was in there a couple of hours,by this time it had cooled down and gearbox seemed ok but didnt  fancy trusting it on m25 so went a4 through london.Got a far as picadilly with only about 5 geabox related stops where it lost all drive again.

Phoned Rac and was told 3 to 4 hours minimum before they could get there. After an hour or so police arrived, was on a red route and was told move or they would recover it.Anyway it worked again when started, and in a series of stops we made it across to Gants hill, took usseveral hours though.

Going across gants hill roundabout going straight on we were rammed broadside on by foreigner in seat peeopl carrier who had decided that the correct lane to turn right was outside lane in spite of turn right lane being clearly marked.

Was quite adamant it was my fault, luckily someone who had been behind us stopped and gave us his details as witness. Then copper on bike rolled up & although was not interested in accident as non injury was quite happpy to give other a lecture on correct lane disipline on roundabout.

So finally got home, with a fucked gearbox & 2 doors and wing stove in.

What a fucking awfull day.

To cap it all woke up this morning with a sore shoulder/neck & head, didnt think i had hurt myself but obviously i must have bounced off door or something when hit.

Not amused.

Only good news is that tests were fine.

Pics show roundabout and vehicle positions.

Sorry for your troubles Dave, that is an epically shit day.   At least you have a witness, let the insurance sort it out.

Look on the bright side Dave - you walked away.

Hopefully there won't be a next time, but if there is and it is not your fault, then you are better off saying your arm/neck/back/shoulder or whatever hurts.

Police are then interested and its better being taken straight to Hospital to be checked over than turning up the next day and being at the back of a very long queue.

Thing is most of us don't want to cause any bother. There are others who make a lot of money out of nothing.

Knew i should have used my Volvo.

Seems jukes are notorious fo auto gearbox faults, but after only 900 miles??

This is why I dont go to London. Sorry to hear of this shitness man. Hooefully the test results will be better news.

Glad your shit day ended on a positive note !

Mate make sure you get to the nearest hospital and get checked out properly, the other half had something similar and ended up requiring major spine surgery plus is still under years of physio etc.

Sounds like a genuine (which is obviously rare) case of whiplash or the like as generally from that you feel ok at the time then the next day when the adrenaline stops everything starts to hurt.

No shame in getting compo for something that's genuinely happened to you, worst thing for my Mrs was despite the other person hitting the rear of our car and admitting liability at the scene she lied completely and said the Mrs had pulled out causing her to swerve, stupidly at the time she didn't call the Feds or get any numbers from people at the scene. To me and looking at the damage this was impossible but my own insurance company took her side 100% and despite us providing tons of evidence to the contrary they rubbished everything we said. Went to a good solicitor etc but they didn't feel confident the case would win in court because of no witnesses etc, also they believe we were duped by our own company ( LV) as they told me the other party had been paid out compo and financial hardship payments but a barrister checked for us and this was total bollox.

It's been 3 years of hell and disappointment for her but the books closed now and we move on.

Don't make the same mistake especially as you've had the POLIS and witnesses too.

What an awful series of events - to have a FTP followed by an accident has to surely be a record of some sort

If it's a Renault gearbox I'm not surprised mind

So sorry to hear of your troubles Dave. As others have said, go and get yourself checked out at the docs - there could be some underlying problems that may show up in the coming days.

How old is the Juke then?

Just one of the many scare stories which put me off newer cars completely.

Glad you walked away, but frustrating with the events. As others have said, get down the hospital and get checked over following the impact. My OH is only in her late thirties, but a Tranny that took out the front of her old Golf gave her aches and pains for weeks on end. Fortunately, we'd been to the hospital the day after it happened and had logged the start of her discomfort. As for the Juke, can't you ask them for a K10 Micra instead? At least they're bloody reliable!

+1 sympathy and doctors visit as soon as practicable.

15-ish years ago while moving from down south to this Sheffield I had a bump from behind at a roundabout. I was desperate for a piss and had a cockateil in the car, no visible damage to my car (I know!) bit battered front of theirs, I'd done this 300 mile round trip 3 times that day already and I really just wanted to get home. Vaguely noted contact details and reg but never pursued it beyond that, we'd sort our own cars out and save a headache.

Got home, couldn't open back doors of car. Couldn't find those details anywhere. No physical symptoms, went and played football that evening even. Next day couldn't get out of bed. Blamed football. After a week of shuffling and hobbling about I eventually went to docs. Still suffering now. Stupid backs.

It was a Citroen ZX I was driving and a Pug 309 hit me, so it was a forum-relevant meeting, even then.

If it shat itself with such low mileage, is it not possible to reject the car?

Sorry to make light of your day Dave - but they probably won't accept it back now!

Hopefully since it's mobility they'll get it all sorted, get you mobile without all the usual hassle of insurance vultures - especially since you have a witness. Fingers crossed!

That's the bit that really counts though, the rest is just shitty modern cars, that London and "foreigners".

Sorry to hear Dave, any journey like that across London is such a bind, particularly with problems like that.

End of the day if it's Motability then they'll either fix it or replace it - Motability Operations is one of the biggest fleets in the U.K. so they'll have Nissan over a barrel on stuff like this

That is a MOFO shit day, at least your tests were OK though. Agree on getting checked out though, can't be too careful.

For some reason the only bit I read up to the first time, was the bit about the gearbox and not the accident!

+1 on getting to the docs. I was rear ended on the motorway when I was driving my Saab 9-3. Despite having specifically whiplash prevention technology in the seats, I still got it. First day was ok. Second day slightly painful. End of first week in agony.

Even after 4.5 years after the accident, my neck is still not right. :(

Orl modernz etc etc.

I bet that was helpful...

Man, go and see a doctor, for chrissakes. You have been injured, PHAKT!

Which prompts my following quite seriously meant question: When exactly has it become police work to decide whether parties in an accident have been injured, or not?

Sorting yourself out is top priority. Only after that has been done, it's time to have Datsun follow the warranty procedure - if that bloody thing isn't a write off anyway.

And then file a complaint against that dinglebrained mopedised rozzer because malpractice.

Agree with what's said above.  In order of importance:

1. Test results were ok.

2. Get yourself back to the docs and tell them about the crash and where it hurts.

3. Car stuff - meh.  We've all got enough experience to have seen this kind of thing before.  Dodgy driving and cars breaking down happen all the time, get 1 and 2 sorted out and you don't need to worry about 3.  Getting through 1. was the difficult part, you can breeze the rest.
