Yank wank bought- Headlamp help required

The Panda fitted in the garage. Thank fuck. Not by much mind you. I mentioned it here before but these lockups are built to really stupid dimensions, the cortina is about a big a car as you're going to get in here straight on.

I was going to go for a good blast in it but realised one of the headlamps is out and what with it being on day insure and drive me home tax I didn't want to push my luck.

I did take it for a quick blast though and it is quick even though the gearbox does seems a bit dimwitted. I floor it and it took a second to engage by which point I'd lifted my foot off the throttle a bit and it didn't seem to know what to do.

It drives quite nicely, it seems to go around the corners okay. The steering is heavily weighted, which I like but quite odd for the type of car. It does feel a little numb it's probably still better than the big Audis/BMWs/Jags I've driven so no real complaints. I've not really driven it hard as I'm still sussing it out and am a bit wary of it being a big heavy rwd car with 250 odd bhp and I don't want to flump it into a roundabout on the first day.

The engine noise is a bit disappointing it sounds like at trumpet with a potato stuck in it.

Fuel consumption seems dismal but i'm not really bovvered.. The interior is really scratchy plastic but everything still works and it has loads of buttons to press. It's really comfortable, the seats are nice and adjust in every way (electrically). It's actually much nicer at night as you can see the nice gauges but not the horrible plastics.

The remote central locking has a button on it that beeps the horn. I can't see any reason for this other for being a dick and beeping it from inside the house when people walk past making them shite themselves.

Issues seem to be the airbag light is on and the bulb is out on the passenger side headlamp. That's it so far.

Not the prettiest thing, but fairly inoffensive looking imo. I suspect most BMW drivers won't fully realise how quick it is. 0-60 in 7 seconds is pretty respectable. Being an big engine Auto-box, it's going to feel pretty darn rapid. A bit of wolf in sheep clothing's.

I know what you mean I think it's quite a nice design but the door handles are in the wrong place. Putting them below the swage line makes i look weird.

I think it looks best from the back.

What a hideous looking car.

Well bought sir.

Keep us entertained with stories about how it's behaving.

PS. In the US of A anything that moves will go for much more than it would in this country. They don't have Lagunas over there but if they did the 99p Laguna would be worth at least $500.

The same with a lot of other countries too.

E.g. Laguna v6 in Germany on mobile.de (Autotrader of Germany)

€3880 / £3307

http://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/details.html?id=233942149&scopeId=C&damageUnrepaired=NO_DAMAGE_UNREPAIRED&ambitCountry=DE&isSearchRequest=true&minFirstRegistrationDate=2005-01-01&minPowerAsArray=147&minPowerAsArray=KW&makeModelVariant1.makeId=20700&makeModelVariant1.modelId=14&pageNumber=1

€3999 / £3408

EDIT:

Checkout this shagged Laguna with a mismatched front bumper, different coloured doors on one side and a huge big dent in the door! Not only that, it has the awful 2.2dci (sorry Kiltox :D) and 420000km (261000 miles) on the clock

€1300 / £1108 (!)

Third cheapest Laguna on there too!

This looks awful, I would love a shot in it. I bet I would be really annoyed to find it drives exactly how I think a car should drive.

My every day car is a Nissan Juke so I this is a right looker in comparison.

Yes, managing to get the panda in the lockup was a literal life saver.

Genuinely lol-ed.

Top buying. A car that no-one wanted new at an age no-one wants. Genuine autoshite.

few others on the bay

two under 1500 one with lpg couple at 3k and a crazy man wanting 8500 for an 08 with more miles than yours

Is there a intake silencer or something on it? Either removing that or poking holes in the airbox may help*.

If that 13.7mpg is tiny yankie gallons then it's not as bad as it seems, it's 18.27 real MPG...

I very approve.

I rented one of the newer model for a week in Georgia a couple of years ago. I was expecting it to be a bit crap but was very pleasantly surprised to find it went, rode and steered very well. It did like a drink mind, and the autobox was no smarter than any other autobox which is to say fairly dumb.

Still, deffo would, especially at that sort of money.

There should really be an autoshite wives support group. My missus could be the founding member.

PS. Nice* car, well jel.

I had one of these for two weeks in the US quite a few years ago, I thought it was a great car. Actually, I've driven quite a few Caddys and never had a bad one.

Looks straight forward enough.

I've ordered the bulbs. I they're here by saturday and it's not raining I might give it a shot.

If you push and hold the horn button does it set the alarm off? A lot of American cars have panic buttons.

Also they usually pap the horn or beep when locked on the fob.

Not sure if it's something their customers like or if it's a US regulatory approvals thing.

Use the pillows for a lie down afterwards.
