Half arsed NEC photos

I've been to the NEC today for the car show, had a great day although I'm shattered now and I'm still not sure that i saw everything. I think it was a bit bigger this year although I'm sure there was more trade stands though too.

Here's a selection of photos i took and a shitty photo and upload from a phone app for the last 2 hours. Following this Carlton in was a good omen.

This was originally the parts car for the estate and was found in a scrapyard with a car on its roof but it was found too good to break so it was put back on the road again, it still has the dents on the roof!

This wasn't much better, the panel gaps were awful, trim was missing or damaged inside, bare bolts exposed and it reeked of petrol, £32000!

That Capri cost £7500 to build in '74? I thought that was alot of money back then, quite a commitment. That's almost £82K in today's money!

Really wish I could go / had gone, but modern life is rubbish, as some Colchester lads once mentioned.

I hear old, musty brochures were available in abundance, so it's probably for the best that I steer clear.

I think it was for sale recently, I can't remember the price but it was a lot. But still not a return on that cost.

It's an interesting 1974 early Mk2 Cappa Ghia V8 built by the same makers as the Savage Cortinas. Motor magazine roadtested one and it matched the Ferrari Daytona for acceleration to 100mph (about 13 seconds) and went to about 140mph. Still on it's original custom paint from 1975 and has something like 25k miles on the clock from new.

Some more info here if anyone interested.

Brilliant stuff, Triggsville. I remember seeing an 'Austin America' AD016 for sale probably mid 1970's just down the road from me and thought someone has made their own badges for it.

There was a nice blue Moskovich owned by a nice lady, she let me sit in the drivers seat. The car was class, loved it.

Indeed it does. I used to be able to see this from my front room window (Ed and I used to have the same landlord).
