The only way you will see 38mpg in one of those is if you push it. I think the best I saw was 33 on mine.

My thoughts were similar-not a patch on your 850 I'd wager..

You'll probably sweat 38mpg if you push it...

Cheap zx/xant/406? Sounds like your just looking for a winter beater

I dunno re an xud..none of them really float my boat bar another 205- and that's not suitable for the 200mile schlep I'll need the dae..

Crash info looks OK tbh but I dunno re them-big ole bus and likely still like a beverage, but it has potential:)

This is worse than going shopping with my wife. :)

I'm a fussy bugger;)

Think I'm definitely zeroing in on a VAG derv- likely Octavia..

Other suggestions appear to be too thirsty/too French/just plain wrong!

I appreciate what folks have suggested so far.

I wouldn't care about Cat C if it was recently ie since the car was worthless and would be written off for needing any paint at all.

However I still think the seller of that one is a bit optimistic, its a £3-400 car but as it was reserve not met at 500ish last time through, shill bidding would not surprise.

Taking a leaf out of Dave_Q's advice* book,

I had papped a bid on that 2002 Leon 110 TDI.

It ends about 9.30 tonight so we'll see how it goes.

Looks better really, especially if it hasn't been crashed into something. Veg friendlyness confirmed from the pics.

Timing belt, waterpump and rad in 2014 plus a solid flywheel conversion.

I may break my self imposed car buying ceiling..

he can gtf with the description but his pictures are excellent

Least you know the game- some actual info past the 'golf in a party frock' spiel

Front arm rear bushes as per the MOT advisory are a bit of a pain, potential bargaining point there, along with the Sagitar brand ditchfinders on the rear.

Using the power of reading I have managed to discern that the arms were done after last not ;)

No bad thing as doing them on the lupo was bad enough!

Certainly reads like its been well looked after but I won't know until I see the thing.

My mechanic mate was saying its not worth THAT much, but a fair few useful things have been done.. Guess its what I value that at..

I read that as "I've tried everything to make it steer properly and it still doesn't, so it's got to go".

That looks alright, I will look forward to not winning it in a raffle when you are done with it!

Congrats for getting through it - I'm sure I did read it all but the only thing that I actually registered were the 2 x maps showing where Scotland is.

Quite far from London I hear.
