Yup...

Inigo Jones (July 15th 1573 - June 21st 1652) is regarded as the first significant British architect of the modern period, and the first to bring Italianate Renaissance architecture to England. He left his mark on London by single buildings, such as the Banqueting House, Whitehall, and in area design for Covent Garden square which became a model for future developments in the West End.

The sign  in the photo is referring to St Paul's Church, 'the Actors Church' due to the proximity of theatres, opera houses etc. It has its own website -

Ah yes, have been in there. Used to love Covent Garden years ago, it's not the same now.

No, it's 1962 SAVA S-70 which used a 55 hp Barreiros EB-4 engine and a BMC cab. They also assembled these -

The SAVA J4 Which went on to become these -

It's still a J4 underneath, but SAVA were by then owned by Pegasso who wanted to modernise these. They were made well into the '80's and are still to be seen in use today. IVECO took them over and dropped the J4.

Other SAVA products, often marketed as 'SAVA-Austin' look very familiar as well -

I always thought that allowing the sliding door to slide into the body was a bad idea - contamination, water into hidden areas etc.

See also the “J4” above.  Some of the “coachbuilt” van bodies did this, but what other panel vans did?

This is how it should be done, not as aestheically pleasing but it keeps the muck on the outside -

Isn't the internal sliding door just so the cab can be right above the wheels and a high cab floor with door having to slide over the top of front wheels  thus giving a bigger load space (and no bonnet).

There's a community centre, last used by the sea scouts, about 4 years ago.  This truck and some boats have been abandoned.

I'm guessing the freeholder is rubbing thier hands and preparing to build an apartment block on site.

There is also the AS Mecca of the pre-smiley Transit sliding door variant. Not sure if it was aftermarket or not.

Today's surprise classic truck spot, a 1972 AEC Mercury fire engine. It's now a rather twee mobile champagne bar and the emphasis on their website on it providing a unique backdrop for Instagrammable moments is a bit cringey, but the truck itself is nice and still looks outwardly original. Good reg too.

Meanwhile in the colonies... Australian transport regulators are currently testing a double stacked three trailer road train. Impressive!

Regal Garage, Upton-upon-Severn. I stopped by there after collecting a big batch of old magazines in 2010:

1945 Ward La France

1971 Bedford KM

1974 Bedford CF

Just seeing that last photo brings to mind the smell of these places.
