Not really, it would tear the MG to pieces when you try to pull it out of the driveway.

Before you get offered an AX....

I stupidly sold a Frontera SWB many years ago. Much regretness since.

I need some bits for mine (like a new seal for the diff) where's the best place to get them?

Have you tried FOG (owners forum) on the internet, AS?

I'm on FOG - it's a bit quiet, and slightly clique-y.

Mind you, it's been like that for years.

Yeah going good apart from shitty mpg and needing a service. Did have to have a nearly a whole new exhaust and cat but that's it so far. But it is what it is, drives very nice and I still love it.

No expert on what the seals called but i would guess that's it, leaking on the propshaft end.

I'm not on the owners group website. I know places like that can be useful but it's not for me.

Edit: this is it a few months ago on holiday

I didn't know you got leaf and coil sprung versions . Is it an age thing ? Brothers lwb has coils at the back I think

Posted

It is the C20ne.

Not grim, I get 28-30 commuting. More on a run etc etc. Low 20's towing and so on.

Tootles along quite nicely - bearing in mind it is a 'proper' 4x4

Yep - roughly 91-95 MY on leaf springs - 2.0 sport (3dr) 2.4 estate (5dr) and 2.3 td estate (5dr)

Then all to coil rear and swing tailgate on estate from M/N 94/95 onwards

Mine seems to be running at about half that. Partly I think due to be not being able to get the tyre pressure right and partly as it just needs a really big run out.

I remember when the came out in '91 - they looked modern. The ancient part was under the bonnet.

My parents' next-door neighbour has a green 2.8TD.

It's pretty mint actually and he's devoted to keeping it looking decent. I reckon another year or two and it'll start being rare enough to appreciate a little bit.

I never knew that was a thing with these??? Always just presumed all round coil springs. Learn something new everyday.

Torsion bars at the front. That is the norm for a lot of older and pickup-based Japanese 4x4s

I am always harping on about raffles, but we ain't had a good one in a while.

Hint hint.

Low to mid 20s MPG wise I found with these. Lots of rumours about these having Carlton (not Cavalier) engines, a bit of internet research seems to suggest they (Frontera) have a 2.0 SE (NOT SEH) engine, and according to a whizz from VXON:

'The differnce (sic) in an SE AND SEH are nothing only difference is the ECU on a SEH has different fueling'
