This evening I venture forth into hitherto unknown lands (Kirkintilloch) to collect my latest acquisition.

Which, naturally, has issues.

I have purchased my first line of defence.

Which appears to have antigravity properties

More will follow this evening...

It's broken, but how broken exactly is not known as I have never seen the vehicle before. Will it make it home under its own (cloud of) steam?

I very much doubt it.

I'm putting 2+2 together and getting P

I reckon I know what this is....

Are we allowed guesses?

Rover 75 at a guess... Even if we aren't allowed guesses.

It'd be rude not to

Sadly not

It's just got to be a K series of some sort.

Correct. Just to keep the internet horror stories going, this has the "early" stages of HGF apparently.

It is also free, which goes some way to explaining why I am getting something so terrible...

Rover 420 ? With odd colour doors and trim ?

Posted

no, a 420 would be a t-series, and they dont* do alot of HGF, unlike the kettle series.

i would guess at the free landrover freeloader 1800 kettle that was offered on these pages?

An MGF. I'm confident this is correct as the weather today has been awful.

You're talking to the man who bought a car with no doors, windscreen or heater in winter so I see your thinking. Wrong though...

Did the Montego get a K-series? THIS IS FUN.

Could it be an early 825?

Posted

the montego was 1300 a-series, 1600 s-series, 2000 o-series and the perkins prima, so no kettle....

the 825 could be a honda v-6, OR the VFM 4? headed monster.

i'll suggest a leguna as they seem to be flavour of the month on here at the moment.

The 825 was a KV6 (ask me how I know), the 827 was the Honda unit.

Whatever it is, EARLY STAGE HGF is exciting, because we may get to watch it progress into terminal HGF.

Hopefully not, of course. Hopefully not.
