Schaefft Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 Maybe you should just do a Hoovie and LS-swap it:

Tony Angelo did a good video on the swap with his build coming soon. https://youtu.be/qbKmST_6cPU?si=NWN-z-iJQHsjXmcg Sadly I can't go to scrappy and pick up an LS for under a grand though and I dread to think of the price of all the swap parts by the time I got them imported. Also it's long term future with me is far from certain so keeping it standard is the way forward

Have you had a chance to diagnose it or are you just having a break from it for a bit?

Off in holiday next week so it'll likely be into next month. Ironically last night I got a message from the guy who sold me it giving me the previous owners widows number to collect the spare key and spare parts. 🤞 there's an engine in there! yes oui si, cort16, JMotor and 2 others 5
Matty Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 At least you had the bollocks to own one in the first place. As others have said above, a shit run of luck. Fingers crossed its something you can/want to deal with. dome, yes oui si and JMotor 2 1

Jim Bell Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Sour times for the German cars man. Hopefully the poor luck will all be over with now and a lottery win looms on the horizon, or you wake up and it was all just a dream like in that series of Dallas when they killed JR but then wanted to bring JR back. dome 1
SiC Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Fit a cheap 2.5 or 2.7 and go Porsching again! I've said this before but my neighbour had a 911 and sold it to his brother when he got an Audi R8. The engine nuked itself about 100 miles later. They rebuilt it together (with a bit of outsourced machining) and said they're not particuarly complicated to pull apart. Do you have the workshop manuals for the 996?

Handily enough it came with this weighty tome It does seem pretty good although I've not looked too deeply. A friend has a 996 too and is pulling his engine this winter so the plan is to go halves on tools. My engine got 2 liners fitted when it was rebuilt. My money is on one of these having failed. We shall see. mercedade, yes oui si, CGSB and 1 other 4
