Dollywobbler's RAV4 - Force Ale - £SOLD

I had a look what the Japanese themselves would use for towing a caravan.  It appears that they don't.  The only Google reference I could find is for this combo - which probably isn't what you're looking for...

Some great suggestions folks, though rather too many lack the all-important tow bar.

1400kgs max, and it may be the only thing you will need to fix while you have the Accord.

I think if whatever you get isn't at least as practical as the XM you'll get annoyed quickly.

My vote would be for a Delica, Estima, TownAce, Bongo etc.

Also, if it doesn't have a japtastic name such as Pleasure Wagon Charme, Dogging Tent Deluxe or Family Greenhouse Express then you have failed.

Here you go wobbler, how about a nice Komatsu.

Should pull the van ok.

This is proving much more difficult than I expected. Was looking at Pajeros, and found one fairly near. Sounds like the crank pulley has failed though, so that is no longer desirable. So, I'm back looking at RAV4s again. I think this'll only be a summer car. Once I can ditch the tow bar requirement, I really fancy getting something of a luxury or coupe nature. There are some magnificent bargains out there.

There is that black Lexus LS400 with tow bar up in Manchester but annoyingly, it's a 1997, which makes insurance problematic. It's pretty rare to see a Lexus with a tow bar, which makes it all the more annoying!

Cheap Pajeros tend to have lived hard lives with unsympathetic owners, so you'll struggle to find a cheap one that can be pressed into use without work.

You really need something with zero or negative scene tax, hence the suggestions for estimas, delicas are probably out if budget unless broken, the giffertastic saloon genre seems pretty good hunting to me.

I've mentioned Estimas on here before, and was scared away by tales of woe. Which is a shame. I do like them. Have struggled to find giffertastic saloons with tow equipment. Or much at all really. Search for Nissans and you mostly get reams of Micras and sodding Figaros.

I can be helpful.

Shame that you were not at Cannock last weekend as you could have got a tidy looking ignis 4WD for £305 including the fees.

I wish I could get Mrs Tet to part with her 2.5 Pajero, but she won't.

Just mot'd it too.

Don't expect Pajero's to be frugal, because they are absolutely not.

Short MOT and significant potential for crustiness, but you can't go wrong with two towbars.

DW, triple figure Pajeros will be RANCID - like post-post-post beard and lentils unpleasant.

You're better of getting a rough-but-solid Vauxhall Monterey or a high mileage Isuzu Trooper 3.1 for towing fun. The 3.0-litres are dire, avoid!

DO NOT buy a cheap Delica either - they're false economies.

Surely filtering by towbar is like ruling out anything that has an empty washer bottle.... it's perfectly sortable quite cheaply.

Buy LS400, buy towbar, attach one to the other.

LS400 towbars are not very common it seems. In my experience, buying a tow bar is an utter waste of money. Doesn't really add value, may even put buyers off and I rarely keep a vehicle long enough for that investment to be worth it.

Longsight isn't the best part of Manchester...

It was actually quite decent until I started to frequent it.
