Be as stubborn as you can worth the insurers, if you have legal expenses cover use this to get a solicitor involved to make sure blame is not 50:50 split.

Or be like me when I was hit at a roundabout in the AX and say there was no damage as it was your first car and you were scared it worked be written of and scraped. Not that I'm bitter 12 years on...

The OP probably thought it was a much larger car further away.  I get this a lot in the orange panda.  Bull bars have if anything made it worse.  I am considering a flashing amber light on the roof.

Good Luck.

Its a fender-bender, chief. I doubt if the accident investigation unit will be in too much of a hurry to measure up the crime scene.

Don't need to, send the pics to the insurance and they will do their own sums, I was a similar but opposite position when a speeding white van man hit me. I took pics of the marks and the accident scene and the insurance concluded he was travelling in excess of double the speed limit so I was paid out. No police involvement at all.

I had two windows broken in my car a few years back.  Rang the insurance and they said that those two windows weren't covered.  So off I went and sorted them out.

Next year, they still put the premium up due to an 'attempted claim'.  Aren't enough words for those guys.

Hope you sort it all out, accidents are always tiresome.

Excellent - glad Its of some use! Try calling them to see if they will hold the bits you want as I've been before and found the bits I've wanted were already gone - I don't think they will but if you don't ask...

Good man, hooray for saving this little beauty :-D

Sadly unless they totally believe you and have separate evidence they will likely go 50/50.

Any CCTV in area? That may help.

Apparently other party have accepted liability. I

Assessor going to inspect my car tomorrow, and they will let me buy it back at scrap value. Being as it only weighs 620kg, that should be a laugh!

No, policy doesn't get cancelled, as far as I know.

Ring ring....ring ring.... "We understand you were in an accident....we can claim back all your expenses and whiplash compensation , and the fact your little boy screams and wont go near or in a car anymore ..the insurance company  set aside this money....."

You wait , your phone wont stop ringing for the next two years !!!!!   All your private data sold ...

I have a dash cam but I accidently reset it to chinese and can't fix it!

Was it still in the car and plugged in?

As an aside, why do mobility drivers get brand spanking new cars which cost a small fortune? The queen drives this mobility number, and she doesn't complain about it.

I had friends who worked for Scottish Power when they got taken over by Iberdrola the new company cars for the engineers on call were Astras that were so provo spec you couldn't buy them from the dealer as they were specially ordered. Now if a company can negotiate a special build of cheap cars why on earth can't the government? The government know how many disabled cars they will need in a year why can't they issue a tender to Ford, Vauxhall, etc saying we need X basic cars, what's your cheapest price?

You don't even have to have an accident to get those calls. I've got full NCB and haven't had any sort of incident in over a decade but they still ring about once a week "about the accident I had"

I found the best way to get rid of them is to say you've already claimed, once they think there's no money to be had they disappear. I had the same when my Alfa went for a drive by itself into my neighbor's car.

I useually tell them that i have had 6742 accident so far this year, which one are they talking about.

At that point they put phone down

I have to admit to getting bored with my usual "I don't know what you are talking about, stop bothering me" response recently. I decided to string them along so I pretended that I'd accidently rear ended a minibus full of nuns who were taking some kittens to a play day for disabled children. I had a good 10 minutes fun embellishing the story with details involving Talbot Tagoras, smashed in back doors and an escaped kitten causing a vectra driver to swerve and mount a wall but they sussed I was taking the piss in the end and hung up.

Hasn't stopped the calls though.

Fucking lying bastards.

The phone call I got about the other party accepting liability was a claims company.

I asked my insurance company today and they said that they haven't accepted liability, and the my details haven't been passed on. I'm annoyed that I fell for their trick.

I'm sorry to say but an accident of any kind will affect your premium. Someone ran into the back of me a few years back and my premium went up £100 as despite it not being my fault they said it made me a worse risk.

I wrote off an astra and ended up paying £150 LESS than before. Although I had to change insurer as the out of pocket insurer was obviously trying to get all their money back, in 1 years premium, which isn't really how insurance is supposed to work.

I've just gone through all this crap, insurer will declare your car a write off simply because of it's age, expect Copart to come knocking very shortly. They were going to cancel our policy and deduct the remaining premium payments out of the payout, but after one call to customer services, they agreed to keep the policy open, so we would get the full value payout with no deductions. I do expect to be arse raped in November when it's due for renewal

Motability negotiate big fleet discounts on their cars - the cost to the recipient is their disability living allowance which they would get in cash otherwise and any upfront advance payment whether they have a Picanto or a top of the range BMW.

The cost to the government is the same whether they take the benefit in cash or a car of any description

Arseholes.

Get them to send paperwork through. Ignore letter. When they phone, ask them to resend it. Invent something about post going missing from a communal mailbox. Ask them to send it special delivery. Return to sender. My record is six lots of post, big A4 packs of terms and conditions at a quid fifty a time, before they gave up.

Insurance all paid out, they admitted liability, bought car back. All sorted.

Now I either fix or sell. .

Glad to hear that it all worked out (as well as could be reasonably expected anyhow)

I told the last claims company who called me that I'd perished in the crash and that I'm currently a ghost, then I went "woo-ooh-ooooh" until they went away.

That's brilliant - I'll have to try that one, as I seem to get loads of those calls despite not being involved in any accidents or making any claims.

Insurance is pish, when a stupid bint pulled out of a junction into the side of my bluebird, where it was 100% her fault, i had to let it go. The damage wasnt too bad but since i have several cars insured a claim would have increased them all for something that even isnt my fucking fault!
