Yep, thats correct.

I am not here to out bid you Ben (I will leave you to linger as the highest bidder for a while) but I will help your cause with a little road test review....

Just been out in this wagon for a test ride over my favorite route with Joe as a passenger, and it is a real gem. I was expecting it to be large and lardy and a bit sluggish feeling like a Xantia, but no.

The engine is a real gem, it pulls VERY had for a untuned XUD Turbo, I was quite suprised to find it went better than either of the 2 306's with the same engine I have owned.

The steering is sharp and precise, the brakes have great bite (but not hyrdo-spastic sharpness). It is a propper hoon.

And it is mega-comfy and long-leggged (it was in 4th gear where the Cleland 205 would have been in 5th). I only wacked it into 5th at 80mph, so if you want a motorway cruizer this one would be suprizingly good.

I am tempted to bid but require a smaller car. If I was older and more sensible, wanted to put a grin on my face now and again, and needed a medium sized respectible load lugger (like you guys) I would be right on it.

Dont get me wrong, it has its faults. Various areas of green flora adorn the bodywork crevices. It isn't Bosch'd. The drivers door handle on the inside is flaccid. The drivers rear window is wedged up with bits of wood. It isn't a Peugeot. It has one electric mirror and one manual one. (WHOOO?) It isnt a 306, its a just a little larger.

It rides like a 306 with a dead body in the boot, the only thing that let it down when thrashed to the limit in the dark was that the headlights need adjusting up and the front shocks feel quite worn over the large rolling lumps on the moor. And it hits a brick wall in terms of acceleration when the turbo comes off boost and the rev limiter in the pump kicks in.

She really is quite a fine steed.

Good luck.

When YOU are moving it on let me know ;)

I'm still very confident that someone will outbid me by ten pee at some point in the next seventeen hours.

I'm very confident someone will buy it off of you next week for half what you pay

See, I told you it drives well, now the Crown Prince of XUD's has said so too! I wanted Will to drive it before it was up for sale, I bet I could have persuaded him to have it if he had. I wanted to swap him for the 106, and tonight he admitted this is a way better car. But now he doesn't want to deny you lot the pleasure! :D

BOTH back windows wedged up, but I don't sit there so meh. There's more info in the links on the first page.

The front leccy ones work ok. Central locking works from the driver's door. There's an electric sunshine roof, but Sporty had fun* with that, so I've left it alone.

THIS CAR DOES NOT LEAK WATER IN AT ALL! Omg.

The electric mirror is for the one you can't reach from the cock-pit, so that's fine.

And I don't think Will found the headlight aim adjuster (it does have one, I think) whilst he was at full chat across Malham Moor.

To me, it's very like a mini-405 estate, just not so pretty. Ride and handling are spot on. Even on full hoon, I'm still not convinced of any back shock or bushes issue. The exhaust runs very close to the both the beam and tow-bar, so there could be occasional contact there, or it could be a sporadic rattle from the spare wheel cage.

The seats are comfy and squishy, and it feels really relaxed at 70mph. It has the same big, square, low boot floor, without suspension intrusion, I'd recommend it as a daily to anyone, especially if they like to make their neighbours turn up their noses. Don't we all?

Have another picture of Flossy, she flipping loves this car, and insists on being inside it while I work, usually just sitting int' footwell.

She's out-voted. Maybe when she has her driving license, we'll let her have more of a say. So she doesn't feel left out, I may take her for a ride in it, she'd love that.

What causes the sill frilliness on these and other 90s PSA stuff? Xsaras and 406s seem bad too.

The floor and chassis metal seems to be pleasingly substantial, it had only gone scabby due to incompetent jacking (why don't people take care? If only they knew how they were limiting the life of the car). However, the sill skin is only just thick enough to be stiff to the touch - 1mm at the most? It's well painted though. I guess the soggy bit we found was due to a stone being thrown up and taking off the protection there.

After Will's hoon, I saw he'd dislodged this - I hope it wasn't integral to the handbrake mechanism

Come on guys, we can do better than this... Just 10p more?

It has about half a tank of fuel in it too, most of it dino-dizzle!

Posted

Looks like it might be heading in your general direction Andy!

Roll up... At £200.10, it's very cheap for such a great all rounder as this, full test on it too...

Oh, it has a new oil filter fitted, so either Tim or Chris must have done the oil already this winter. (Own up if you're watching!)

erm, well, I'm out,  :) was I ever in..

this sounds like a right bargain @ 200 quids though.

It wasn't me, I only put a tyre on the back of it.

The 106 had a FTP on the way to work this morning.

I think that extra work on the brake lines values the car an extra 10p.

Therefore I bid £200.10.
