I shall repeat my ealier answer 75's are not a problem. I have a dilema cos I have room on my driveway for a mg zt, but I have a wife, mmmmmattachicon.gif20160226_143027.jpg

Not sure of the legality of Wife Roffle, need to check with The Breadman first.

Posting on here is like asking a load of pissed up blokes at a party whether you should have another drink! You should definitely keep it. Just tell yourself you can stop anytime you want to...

Or something?

It's 8, not 7...

Or is that China?

I think 8 sounds like 'luck' in Cantonese hence considered a fortunate number.   Eight sided shapes on buildings in Hong Kong and Singapore and popularity of private plates with lots of 8s in them.

8 Rover 75s?   Might be overdoing things slightly, on the other hand they are comfortable old things.

I like R75/ZT.

You like them. You bought three of the launch model, which is right and proper.

You want to keep all three.

Where is the 'case' to be made? Working as intended as far as i can see. Strange questions being asked here these days...

Feel free to offload any one of them onto me.  That spec looks highly desirable.  Hell, the car looks highly desirable!  I desire it highly anyway...

Is a '99 V-reg was a launch car. The late '98/early '99 T-regs were launch cars as I understand. Your car had '999CJW' as a private plate on it at some point.

There seems to be quite a few 'launch' cars on a T-plate still around from what I've spotted, many in Blue (as per your car) but seen an off-White one and a Black one.

I've got 5 Rover 800s, 3 Mk1s and 2 Mk2s. One Mk1 being an early D-reg 820E.

So nyeeer.

The 98 cars were pre launch cars.

Ive had an S reg car.

My V plated launch car is actually earlier than my dads T plated launch car.

Its not done on reg as they could have been in a showroom for a while.

The other cars on T plates you have seen are not launch cars.I have had a T plated atlantic blue car but it wasnt a launch car.

The launch cars only came as I described.

If someone says they have a launch car in a different colour or spec then they are mistaken im afraid.

My S reg was a pre launch car but I just couldnt get on with a 1.8 manual in a big car like the 75.

I remember seeing your posts on the 800.info site. You seem a knowledgable chap

As I see it, you are old enough to work, vote, drink, procreate, and drive. Therefore, logically, you are also old enough to tell your dad to do one. Your car, your business.

Ps

I am jealous, and therefore wish to drive Rover 75s vicariously through you.

There is no actual problem here. You know that. Right?

Three?

Pah - that's not even an inconvenience, let alone a problem.

There is no dilemma - the more of these beautiful cars saved for posterity the better . That is all.

I would not condone what a bloke did locally, which was swap the number plates over every six months or so between his identical* Moonraker Blue Austin Metros.

* I say identical, but the plates were A reg and one of the pair was an 85MY facelift. Would probably only be noticed by a member of HM Constabulary who was a shiter.

Thanks again people it really is appreciated.

My dad has definately warmed to the idea of me keeping it. I came home from work on saturday and found out hed been out in the garden washing the car.

He knows im spending money on it aswell so he knows i am keeping it.

Bet your neighbours love you!!

Luckily the bungalows are configured having the bedrooms looking over the front gardens.  One neighbour is 99 in June and despite me being here a year now she can't remember my name, the other side just seem amused by it and always say hello!  I will be moving a couple on this year so I don't need to park anything on the street anymore

I would love a launch car to go with my primrose yellow 75, problem is I have no more space.

I don't know how much you paid for the latest car (T275MJN) but I am guessing not alot, so keep it and enjoy it.

Failing that, Please Roffle it and sell lots of numbers to me.

Thankyou I'm keeping it now. My dad has not said anything regarding getting rid and also helped me get some spare parts off a scrap car for it. He realises that I love the 75s and I'm not getting rid. Let's just say the cost of the car never broke the bank.

I thought about that to get a car I had bought home once, coincidently that was a metro,i thought better of it.

Knowing how useless ANPR is, ie; only flags alerts for insurance, tax and MOT, as long as the plates are legal they could be off anything. I'm sure someone* has used plates off a random car they own to drive something back from Spain that hadn't been taxed or MOT'd for 3 years, before . Bet they were shitting themselves when they were flagged into the Customs shed in Dover for a "random" ( read one man in an overloaded Range Rover on the 1.30 am ferry) check, too.
