PUG FREE 06 - Anyone want my 306 1.9Dturbo?

Recommended Posts

Posted

As you have no doubt seen around these parts, my Pug 306 is pining for the Fjords due to cambelt failure.

Its MOT'd til October, has 156K miles on it. In the last 2 K i has had a coolant change and oil service, plus glowplugs.

Brakes and gearbox wok well, XUD lump not so much. Interior is in decent order bar the leak into passenger footwell.

4 alloys with decent tread. Rear beam is drum but in good order

It's currently in the South of Glasgow, and I'm happy to meet folks if they'd like to see it.

It will need towed as it is a full on FTP.

£FREE

Is Sportyspice's ZX any good as an engine donor?

Posted

Wilson wants some wheels 4x108..

Not in a position to break - just need it out the way.

Trying to think of reasons why I shouldn't come and scoop this up. Where's my A-frame?

WTF, I've nowt on tomorrow, can I come some time in the afternoon?

If you've got a sub-prime diesel Peugeot, and you cannae be arsed to fix it, it'll definitely be snapped up by... The Cleland Team!

I think the ZX engine would fit with a little work, I can't remember if the pumps are the same mind.

If it needs a full engine swap, fear not, we won't be wasting much time fitting a bloody Lucas pump...

if you can throw an engine in with the same ease that I can out a dyson back together it sounds like a no brainer!

that pic of the boot looks like a small fire, then I look closely and see the bag 4 life...

Fire may have been considered;)

Never mind XUD. Find an ES9J4 to drop in. Nice 3 door shell...

Had to google that one. I'd rather have it wrapped in a 406 Coupe. Perhaps a yellow one :D

Wait long enough and I'll probably be pissed off with the sheer PSA-ness of mine ;)

Stick an XUD9TE in the 406 coupe, more like. It's up there with my dream* of fitting a VM 425 OHV (I can do obscure engine codes too) in a Rover 800 coupe.

Nowt obscure about that VM, but buggered if I want one in ANYTHING :D

The code is obscure. It's a great* engine, service-free apart from the oil, coolant and valve clearances. Add boost and fuel and it'll outrun any petrol 800 in a fog of veg/kerosene/used engine oil/liposuction fat smoke.

How many cylinder heads on it again? Fitting a Rover with four cylinder heads is just asking for HGF.

IIRC it's only one gasket, too, and they sort of overlap, so you can't just swap the gasket on the affected cylinder/s. 'Cause that would be far too sensible.

I hope you had that beacon on pal just so everybody knows 'you know what you're doing innit'

Bonus points for a trouble free journey! How long until it's back on the road?

Its 4 separate gaskets, but the heads are held down with bolts between the two heads and big washers bridging the gap, so you cant remove one head without releasing the bolt tension on the adjacent heads

That's almost more annoying! Go VM!

That engine is a major reason for me never owning a diesel Cherokee. If I found one with the gutless 2.1 Renault one I'd almost consider it.

To add to the obscure diesel theme, a friend from years back fitted a Lister LPWT4 (all of 60bhp, but lots of torque) into a Transit Minibus. Sounds terrible but actually went rather well.

I helped him out by finding a vac pump alternator, so he could have brakes too.
