They’ll do it albeit rattling and smoking a bit.

Just use proper Zetec oil and they'll be fine.I had a 2.0LX out on hire that was double shifted and it gave no trouble at all.

Apologies for the potato cam quality, my phone always seems to take the best pictures when you haven't got numerous people in a Tesco car park giving you funny looks while scrabbling to get your phone out of your pocket to excitedly photograph a 30 year old Mondeo... 🤣

Looks like an LX, I was trying to work out if it was another bASe but then saw the badge on the wing. And of course the alloys. They can't be factory fit?

^ Just noticed it's got a pretty colourful MOT history, and over 130k on the clock. Someone must like it 🤷

That was a pretty bad fail at the last one, which I'm sure could have easily seen one of these off 15 years ago

Well spotted @RoverFolkUs, I know that one, here it is in daylight...

I had a 96 1.8 that started to rattle a bit at the top end by 130k, that might have been from me caning the fuck out of it though 😂

They’re late model Mk2 alloys.

All my rental and rent to buy Mk2s were either 2.0 or 1.8 diesels. Having said that, the only Zetec Mondeo I managed to kill was a Mk1 2.0si which I caned with a shot head gasket. Come to think of it, I did have one 1.8LX which I bought cheap from another driver with only six months taxi life left that managed to make it to retirement.

Back out of storage, although weather is a bit grim for a drive anywhere today.

I picked this car up 8 years ago yesterday. Time flies. I guess it needs another cambelt change on time! (I got it done in the first year).

From Facebook...

Ford Mondeo Safety Car from the 1995 Brazilian F1 GP. There was another unit, burgundy in color, that worked in the same race as the Doctor Car (today called the Medical Car).

I know 1995 was a very different time in F1 and they didn't bring the safety car out for every minor accident or packet of crisps that blew on to the track. I remember when a broken down car would just get left by the side of the track until the end of the race.

I can't remember when that changed but I don't remember ever seeing the cars driving slow enough to keep behind a Mondeo. Even a fast one.

@YossI do wonder too, and felt there might be a hint of fake news of a 170bhp V6 being a pace car, but this advert does seem to back up the initial post.

Fiat Tempra?! I wish I could have heard the conversation where they agreed to that being used.

Given Imola 94 when questions were already being asked of the part the Opel Vectra safety cat played in Senna's accident I'm amazed there would be a Mondeo safety car a year later

Running through the @greengartside data he sent me last year, there's definitely another 12 K-reg cars that are both taxed and MOT'd (or MOT has lapsed in last year). So these are out there somewhere - keep 'em peeled

Last time I checked them all, there were only 27 or 28 with MOT's on my manually compiled list - so this would be quite a few new ones to find.

ah, I've just been corrected, K222KWH is actually 1996 registered and was on P447UCN...
